The Parachuting School of Besançon Franche-Comté is a modern and active school with between 7000 and 8000 jumps made each year. Photo-060 The school was founded in 1975 and totally refurbished in the early 1990s. Today, the school has a Pilatus PC-6 ( motorized in A34) allowing to take 9 parachutists to 4000m in 15 minutes. The school has a high-quality team composed almost entirely of volunteers to the services of practitioners, confirmed and novices. The parachute park that the school provides to paratroopers is substantial: 18 "school" materials (Module / DCM9 and School) 20 intermediate materials (Advance In / Navigator 240 to 200, Atom Legend / Navigator to Electra 170, Saber II 170 and 150) 20 "Voile Contact" equipment (Vectra / Diamant 180, Talon FX / Storm 150 and 135) All these equipments all have student safety devices (FXC) and intermediate devices ( Cypres 1 & 2, Vigil) and are constantly being renewed in order to have a park suitable for all templates and all levels. 2011_12_08-a-09_03_03_N ° 7030 The specialty of the school is the Voile Contact , a discipline that is practiced parachute open to several and which consists of realizing the maximum figures by hooking with the parachutes in a given time. This discipline of parachuting is pushed upward by Jean-Michel Poulet (11 000 jumps, 12 times champion of the World of Sailing Contact, Director of the French teams and National Technical Director of the French Federation of Parachuting) and members of the teams Of France multi-mediators who train regularly in the school. Animations in Sailing Contact, but also FreeFly , Vol Relatif and Wing-suit are regularly organized with funding from the Ligue Franche-Comté as well as from the school in order to offer parachutists attractive coaching in all disciplines. Besancon La Vèze is a small joint, operating on week-ends. The staff is "benevole", meaning they do it for free, because it is their passion. Nonetheless, this being France, they do have the required qualifications, and this being the Jura, near Switzerland, they have a perfectionist approach to safety. So they are a bit cheaper than elsewhere, but not cheap in the derogatory sense.

The Pilatus has the most powerful turbine, which enabled them to do five jumps per hour at 2,500 m during a CRW French national. It's pretty fast going up.

Also, the club has a very family feeling about it, with the ladies organising lunch and the traditional Saturday bbq, for a small charge (here again, a non-profit organisation).
The DZ is quite small, which is good because it means beginners focus on navigation from Jump One.
There is no professional rigger permanently on station, though I have met two who come for fun and will take care of your rig during the week - and pack a reserve on the spot in case of emergency.

There are rooms and amenities, a kitchen with all you need if you prefer to do your own cooking, a small camping area.

The only limitation is in numbers: it is a small club, in an area without much of a population, so the Pilatus is often idle while people are packing. But I have done days with six to eight jumps, so the impression of slow activity does not necessarily translate into a day lost.
For non-French speakers, chances are you will find at least two or three guys and gals who can manage.

Really, if there is a family joint with the distinct atmosphere of not-for-profit skydiving, this is it.

Right from the offset, I was made to feel at home here. The lady in the office was great, the Boss was great and (I'm gushing, right?)... well you get the message.

La Veze is a very nice DZ in the east of France, near Besançon (Franche-Comté). The activity is managed only by volunteers who love skydiving and decided to create a DZ to share their passion.
If you're looking for 7 days a week skydiving this isn't the place : La Veze is opened mainly on WE.

On WE you can find there a very nice team with high professionalism. Even if most skydivers are doing the usual activities, La Veze is well known for its Canopy Formation team (with WW champion as well as many national medals). As a consequence it's a must if you want to learn this discipline.

It's a small DZ where you won't find hundreds of skydivers at anytime but more likely only a few dozens, but highly motivated and always ready to have fun and welcome new fellas.
