Been jumping for 25 + years now.   Skydive Utah is great.  Good vibe. Friendly local jumpers.  Great View.  Unlike these new millennial drop zones that want 35$ a jump or for you to buy a membership ,  Skydive Utah will treat you well.   Reasonable jump tickets.    Highly recommend

I visited Skydive Utah on my quest to jump in all 50 States; after disappointing experiences in two other Utah operations, I hit the Mother Lode. Mike Chapman runs a professional operation that combines a well-run business with a collegial atmosphere. The vibe is open and friendly and the processes are efficient. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and my jump at Skydive Utah.

Stopped off here for a few days on the way to Lost Prairie. From start to finish I felt welcome here. Everyone from manifest, to the DZM, packers, fun jumpers were friendly and inclusive.

They have a King Air that flies to altitude super quick. Approximately 10 minutes (maybe even less) with a full load.

Manifesting for jumps is super simple. After checking in you tell manifest when you want to get on a load, no tickets needed. At the end of the day if you don't have enough money or credit on your account you pay the rest.

They are very organized with a screen by the packing area that shows who is on what load and estimated times for each load.

This combination makes it easy to get many jumps in quickly if you are motivated to do so. In fact one of the days I did 5 jumps in 5 hours :)

Landing are is large and I imagine Skydive Utah is an excellent place to learn from what I saw of the instructors.

I camped out for two nights and felt right at home. Just keep in mind no running water so stock up before hitting Skydive Utah. Hope to return soon!

I went to Utah because I was going to a BASE camp, initially it wasn't a skydiving trip. However, at the time that I was there I hear that there was a Couch course going on, so I decide to try it, the first day I was there immediately after my arrival I meet some local skydivers and even that they where in a much better level that me they invited me to jump with them, so I did.

The trip from Taxy to drop altitude was just 8 minutes, so that was great, but even better is seeing the beautiful mountains that ended at the lake (I know that I was met to be flying and not enjoying the view). The landing area is literally huge with no obstacles.

So after that day I enroll for the couch course, I have to study a lot, and could not finish the rating (because my trip ended and I had to come back to mexico), but I learn so much in so little time. I been in I think most of mexico DZ, and some in US, but I never saw so good teachers as I did in Utah.

I already say it but all the staff over there is awesome, so if you pass by stop and try it, it's really an experience.

The fun jumpers at Skydive Utah are very inclusive. The DZO jumped with my group. All in all, the DZ was welcoming and the aircraft gets to altitude really fast.

If there is a downside, it is that they don't have running water so bring whatever you need to get through a day of jumping.

Overall, this dropzone is really good. I didn't mind using port-a-potties or stocking up on bottled water because they make you feel at home, its easy to get on loads, and the atmosphere is very relaxed. I'm glad I came out here for a great day of jumping.

I love this drop zone! I've been to Skydive Utah a couple of times and would go every weekend if it wasn't a six hour drive from where I live. This is a mid-sized DZ done right. It's big enough to turn some serious loads, but small enough that you don't feel lost in the crowd. The aircraft is super fast and gives you consistent high altitudes. The packing areas are large, carpeted and covered. The LZ is huge and grassy; I love that they separate their main landing area from the landing areas designated for tandems and high performance landings. Their manifest process is simple and very organized. The local jumpers are very friendly and inclusive and the DZO is friendly, professional and safety conscious. I highly recommend Skydive Utah!

This was my second DZ I ever visited and I have to tell you what a wake up call! I did not know that it could be this good. I was still pre 'A' license and the amount of help and coaching was AMAZING. I never had that much help at my home DZ by Vegas!

I will be going back this year. Good times and fast ride to alt, 13,500 in 7 minutes!

WORTH THE TRIP!

I was driving from San Francisco to Denver, and Decided to take a break on the second day of driving to get some jumps in. I called the number from their website to make sure that they were jumping on Thursdays. Even though I called at 9:30PM (expecting a recording to tell me what the weekly schedule was), but the DZO answered and asked me what I was up to. When I told him my situation, he then asked if I knew how to get there. I thought he was just helping me out with directions, but when I told him that I had directions already, he told me "well, come on out tonight, and sleep in the packing area. Thick carpet, nice weather."

That totally floored me. I mean, he has no idea who I am other than that I claim to have a B-license, and he's telling me that he'll leave the hangar open for me to drop by? Phenomenal.

When I arrived the next morning (I was calling from my hotel room already...) the friendliness didn't stop. The DZO's wife (I think?) came up for the gear check formalities for a jumper new to a DZ, and then hunted me down later to ask if I wanted a jumping buddy. When she found out I was going to be sitflying, she admitted that it wasn't her thing, but that the DZO might want to come along.

Does friendliness like this happen everywhere? It was great.

Anyway, I wanted to get those things out there. The DZ was nice, the King Air was super fast (and pretty damn new). They just resurfaced part of the large tarmac, which is only bad because if you land on it, beer. The views of the salt lake and surrounding mountains is awesome (even for a Colorado skydiver who gets to see the Rockies/Front Range from the plane. The packing carpet definitely was thick and clean. They also have these carpeted "cots" for lack of a better word. Plywood sheets up on 4x4 legs... for sleeping? Or maybe to extend the packing area.

Wind was a bit funky, but the DZO was extremely knowledgeable about the local wind patterns/cloud formations, and what to expect. I felt safe, even as a first time jumper with low numbers in a new area (and I'm not a cocky guy).

This is a way cool big/little DZ. When I envision having an ideal DZ Skydive Utah IS it in real life!! The DZO husband and wife team are dedicated caring owner operators and skydivers..'nuff said. Top notch staff amazingly tight, but welcoming to all levels. The facilities and equipment are Big DZ quality!!! or better.

I live near to and jump at The Big DZ in AZ currently. Top notch, but not so playful. No complaining just saying..

Having been lucky enough to work with a great bunch of seasoned staff/Pro's at a small DZ in 2008 where I earned and learned through my first (case a beer) 100 jumps and B rating.

Temper this review with my relative background of a crappy little 182 fly by night (great place to learn and hang thanks to manager Geoff) Sadly though with off site DA owner who's ALL about (scrimping on maint/equip)only cares about money DZO (a real Richard).

The contrast is dramatic DZ to DZ and Skydive Utah is a rare gem which sets a sky high, high bar! Great Job! Jack, Deb, Phil and your supper fun team!

I moved to utah a this season and have had a wonderful experience at Skydive Utah. The owners Jack and Debbie are friendly people who go out of their way to help. Phil the manager is awesome and makes a huge effort to get funjumpers on loads and will rearrange loads at the last minute or hold them to get funjumpers on the loads they need. The tandem instructors are friendly and outgoing and will help newer jumpers with great advice, and are never elitist. There's a great core of wingsuiters developing here as well. Overall its a great place to jump. Hopefully time will lead to another turbine (the King air is super fast and always gets 13K +) and more facilities (BAR!) but its a great local DZ.

the whole staff was very cool welcoming and very knowledgable , that was the funnest time i have ever had... but there was one guy an hawain lookin fella he wheres chumms , he gave me a bad vibe for sure , he had a bad additude towards our whole group and we will never go to the tool site again , the rest of the staff is great but that one man , ruined my experience , he was very rude !!!!!!phil i think his name was

This review has been a long time in coming, as this was the first DZ away from my home DZ I visited I wanted to visit a couple more and develop a base line. Now that I have been to a couple of more DZs and gotten an Idea here it goes.
The first thing I want to mention about Skydive Utah is the folks jumping there. Skydive Utah is a pretty small operation, you want find a bar, restaurant or swimming pool, but you will find some very friendly skydivers, in fact being away from my home (and in UTAH!) for the 4th of July would have be quite boarding if it were not for the regulars at Skydive Utah.

As for facilities as I mentioned before it is lacking, but they have the most important stuff. Carpeted covered packing area, good mock up, enough of a gear store to cover the basic stuff you may want to buy at the DZ, and a good King Air. I did not rent gear because I have my own, but the rental gear I saw was pretty good for rental gear, including some FF Friendly stuff.

As for the tandem operation I ended up there initially because of carrying family and friends for tandems which as many DZs is the blue chip. First I want to describe the tandem progression at my home DZ as this is the measuring stick that I am using. At my Home DZ the tandem ground school covers lots of stuff that was in my first jump course including malfunctions, and how a ram air parachute works. And the TIs continue mentoring the student all the way to the ground. Students leave the DZ more knowledgeable about the sport weather they pursue an A license or not. Now I trust the TI’s here to the point that I would take family and friends here for tandems in the future. I don’t think there tandem brief covers enough though. They don’t cover malfunctions, which in my own humble opinion is quite important. Now is there anything a student can do about a malfunction? No but they should be aware of the potential risk as well as the likely hood that it may happen without having to pay for the first jump course.

That said the whole staff as well all the fun jumpers are very safety minded and I trust the lives of my friends and family with their Tandem and AFF instructors though none of them have continued the learning progression. Jack and Debbie are both very welcoming, and most of their staff is great. In fact there was only one staff member that rubbed me the wrong way, and Phil’s love for money over the love for the sport would probably not be nearly as annoying if it was not paired with his micro managing, sky god mentality. Wanting to make money for the DZ is ok for a DZ manager, but this guy has far too much ego, to mentor and lead the way a good DZ manager should he is the one thing that cost this DXZ the fifth star, but this one guy is not enough to keep me from returning to jump with the great folks who jump at this DZ. As an experienced jumper that had over a year off from the sport due to a tandem landing accident, I was treated with respect and compassion when I finally returned to the skies. Jack and Deb made me feel right at home, ( is that not the way it is supposed to be??.....) making that initial jump "back in the saddle" a superb one!
I had hoped to make that jump at what I had considered my "home" DZ ( ya'll know...that place just north of here in Ogden....) but, was made to feel VERY uncomfortable and unwelcome by the owners.

Jack Guthrie taught me how to skydive. I am a full time instructor at a big DZ in TX, and I will say that if you want to go skydiving in Utah go check out Skydive Utah. Beautiful views of the Great Salt Lake and a nice King Air. What more could you want? Kudos to Jack, Debbie, Lance, Heather, Sam, JOE-I, and Faris. Check out the FAST AIR @ 4300 ft.

Do what you have to do to get airborn, remember safty is number 1. I have my opinion of Skydive Utah, its your job to come up with your own.

I've only been to 5 DZ's in my jumps, so what the hell do I know?
But...Debbie, Jack, Lance, Heather, and the part time staff are awesome, and always willing to answer questions. Jack is scary smart about all things skydiving.
After driving to another DZ north of there, I found no one wanted to be friendly, helpful, and only wanted my bux. SkydiveUtah said "Hello" the second I walked in the door, and even though they had several tandems readying, they took the time to talk while multi-tasking. Heather was phenomenal. When I returned the next day (didn't jump the first time there because all loads were filled up to sunset) Debbie came up and gave me a hug, saying "welcome back, sorry yesterday was too full" and proceeded to quiz me on safety stuff, and then checked out my gear before she'd put me on the manifest.
They don't have a pool, showers, or hotel next door, and apparently have worked out the difficulties with McNasty next door, this is just a great place. I took my daughter there for her first tandem jump and Lance treated her like a queen. They seem to be very busy with classes, and have their calendar online so you can see when they've got tandems.
Only complaint is I wish they had more room for fun jumps on weekends, seems like the 4 tandems they can take on weekends fill the loads fast.

i am revising my first statement that i made about sydive utah. since that statement i have learned 100% more about skydiving and what it is all about. I have also met and jumped with many of the skydive utah staff and fun jumpers in other venues and have made life long friends. yes, i was not satisfied with the experience i had when i went to do my first tandem, but i now can say that i love the people that jump there. although i have never jumped there, i am willing to forgo the dropzone drama and retract my negative feelings towards the dropzone.

SkyDive Utah is a friendly and small place.The staff are all very friendly and are eager to help new jumpers, though I think someone there seems to be very concerned with making as much money as he can, which can get annoying. Also,I'm beginning to see that rewards (such as Jumper of the Year) are often given, not necessarily to those who may deserve them, but to those who brown nose the most. Many people have told me that they are surprised when a certain person receives an award. Overall, though, I recommend SkyDive Utah. It is a relaxed atmosphere for the most part and the I like the large landing area. I also like that sometimes classes are offered to help new jumpers be safe and learn new skills beyond what is taught in the AFF ground course. I've enjoyed jumping there very much.

I love skydive Utah. Sam,Fish,Heather,Lance,Blake, etc...All the staff are friendly. When i went skydiving, I had my very young daughter with us. There was going to be a delay between my husband and my jump. So the staff said they would watch her. They have such a friendly atmosphere there, i knew i could trust them to watch her for like 10 minutes until i landed. I have always had a blast down there. I went to a party one friday night down there. To get to know them a little more, thye made me feel completely welcome. Told us to stay the night. That they had enough sleeping bags that we could use them. All around Skydive Utah was a great experience for me. They recorded my skydive and the video turned out exactly how i wanted it. It was worth the money spent. I encourage everyone to buy a skydive necklace, so we can can recognize each skydiver to another !!!!! Thank You Skydive Utah

Well my family was in Salt Lake for Christmas so I thought as a fun jumper i would go check out Skydive Utah. The rental gear was great, the people there were very kind and helpful. I got three jumps in and could have put about 7 in. The place was an overall great and I will no doubt go back to SKYDIVE UTAH!!!

They are a great group of people. I showed up to jump on Halloween and they invited me to stay for their party. They fed me and showed me a good time. Since then I've been wanting to jump again but it's close to winter and the weather isn't helping any. So far they have been doing what ever they can to get me up, just pending on the weather. They might not have a five star hotel and resterant but they do have a King Air. It fits a lot of people so you and a group of budies can jump together and it gets you up to altitude before you realize your jumping out of a plane. In conclusion I had the time of my life and I was surrounded by smiling faces.

I don't know how anyone could leave a negative review for Skydive Utah. I've never met a more friendlier group of people! Everyone I met seemed excited to show me a great time!

My jump was even better than I imagined and Fish couldn't have been a better instructor.
All I can say is WOW!!! It truly was one of the most amazing experiences of my life!

The first time I went to the DZ at Skydive Utah, I parked my car and started to walk toward the hanger. It was dusk on a Saturday and I just wanted to check the place out. I was greeted warmly by 5 or 6 different people who introduced themselves, one of whom took an hour to show me around and give me the scoop. Two weeks later I graduated from 'student status' and now I have 108 jumps. -Got my first night jumps last night!!!- Over the last 8 months I have come to realize how much these people love their work and bringing other people to the sport. They put safety first and inclusion a neck and neck second. They may not have a cafe or restrooms with attendants sitting out back, but they more than make up for it with their 5 star learning environment and atmosphere of friendship.

I went to SkyDive Utah to attend the AFF course. Everyone there is extremely nice and helpful. Due to military obligations, I was under a time restriction. They went out of there way to help me get out of student status and as much of my “A” License as possible. Jack, Debbie, Sam and Joe are all excellent at AFF instructors. They have also just received a new King Air, which makes the ride up to altitude very quickly. They have great weather during the spring and summer months, and a huge landing area. This is an excellent place to learn how to skydive and have fun.

We traveled cross country summer 2003 and thought Skydive U sounded like a nice place to stop for couple of days to jump & have good time.
The only person present & answer our question whether this was the dropzone said: "Yes. I'm a mechanist. I don't jump", turned his back to us and walked away. So much about operating 7 days a week (the weather was perfect!). We didn't see any restaurant, bar, camping, showers, pool either. Two portable restrooms, though (so I guess that's something...)
Oh well, we decided that this was not the place, drove away and spend our time & money & had excellent skydives at another dz...
