dzjmg 0 #1 December 1, 2003 I'm just reading up on the proper maintenance of my new slinks tabs and some of their recent problems (steering line interference). If this problem can be solved with Slink Riser Covers, why are people still having problems with slink tabs? Are some people not using them? If so, why? Kind of an obscure question, but I'm curious.Jay
Hooknswoop 19 #2 December 1, 2003 It is a small issue, just don't put the excess steering line through the riser loop where the Slink is when setting the brakes. If the tabs don't stay within the risers, have a rigger tack them so that they do. Derek

Because by using them, you inhibit the ability of pulling the slider down your risers. Which is one reason why they are popular...so lots of people aren't using them (the covers). sducoach 0 #4 December 2, 2003 65, I just put them on both of my rigs. I do not like the slider down around my face or behind my head. I have never been comfortable with the chance of the slider popping up and obscuring my vision. My old Pitt suit still has the velcro slider stow however, I simply collapse the slider and leave it above my toggles. Regular inspection and maintenance prevents problems with the grommets. If you have suggestions or better ideas please let me know through a PM. Blues, J.E.James 4:
rigging65 0 #5 December 2, 2003 Don't misunderstand, I'm not condemning the use of the covers. I was just stating that they certainly do restrict pulling the slider down. Lots of people don't worry about their slider placement, but lots do. I've heard lots of different reasons for pulling the slider down...some I buy, some I think are BS, but the fact is, you should do what makes you feel comfortable (as long as you've thought it all out, of course)! I have Trips, so I like to get my slider as low behind my head as I can, so as not to restrict the third-legs. Of course, if you're not ever going to pull your slider down, you could just put big links and stop disks on your risers...then you don't have to worry about the Slink tabs or the slider ever coming down on you!
