beowulf 1 #5 January 16, 2012 Wow! With all the proximity flying he does I figured it would only be a matter of time before he got too close. He is extremely lucky he isn't dead.
RMK 3 #6 January 16, 2012 Hope he is OK. There can be some quite tricky winds off of Table Mountain. If not familiar with Table Mountain, it actually faces North (the usual postcard shot of the mountain behind the city) so winds like today S/SW come over the mountain onto the city. I was there two weeks ago flying helicopters and on a similar day & conditions turned the helicopter back just as I rounded the corner to fly in front of the mountain instead of proceeding to fly around the Cape. It was another heli pilot who warned me on the radio how “bouncy” it was and I heeded his advice and local knowledge. At around 20mph they even stop running the cable car taking tourists to the top."Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
decompresion 2 #7 January 16, 2012 Hey Jeb, Feel better soon!! Let us know how the surgery turns out. Does this count as landing a wingsuit? I think you said you have to walk away and do it again to count...so keep on trying. Hope you get better soonThere are no dangerous dives Only dangerous divers
Hellis 0 #8 January 16, 2012 I remember when I was down in Cape Town many years ago, long before skydiving. I was looking up at the mountain and see clouds falling down from the mountain. Almost like ITW but opposit. I believe I have video of it too.

mccordia 74 #10 January 16, 2012 More like a touch-and-go. I think several people did those last year. Karr hit a tree, I think Jokke scraped a bush, and I think there where quite a few others that cut it a few meters closer than they should have...JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
