jumppilot01 0 #1 January 10, 2003 Hey, Assuming you meet the minimum requirements (what are those?), if you go to a big BASE event Idaho or Bridge Day, will you have gear available to 'rent' or a class to take? I want to BASE jump, but not spend money on a rig only to do it once and scare the shit out of myself. you know? peace, -Adam
Faber 0 #2 January 10, 2003 I felt the same way when i started. However i did not go to a FJC so i had to buy gear...Ibourgt a older one that could least at least 100jumps. got one for under 1000$ However i know that at places as Kjerag, you can rent gear, but it aint cheap...and the packjob(if you cant pack)all together it would be pretty expenisve... Never know.Mick Knutson * BLiNC Magazine "Everything you ever wanted to know about Parachuting, but didn't know whom to ask."
Zennie 0 #4 January 10, 2003 I rented a rig from Vertigo for this year's Bridge Day. Real nice Warlock with a Dagger main. I think it was Marta's spare rig. Rented it for $250, which may sound like a lot, but it is new, state of the art BASE gear and she offered an equipment discount of that amount if I purchased a rig from them. Any FJC will also provide gear for you as part of the course. Note that the "classes" at Bridge Day aren't really anything resembling one of the dedicated courses you'd get at CR, BR, Vertigo... they are more or less 1 hour Packing 101 deals. I had 400 skydives and I left that class not knowing much more about BASE packing than when I came in. To really learn that stuff in depth, find a BASE mentor and/or take a FJC. - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon
