What do BASE jumpers do for a living?

Recommended Posts

After being called "crazy" one too many times this week, I decided to find out what the heck we BASE jumpers do for a living.

I'm currently just a computer geek, but I used to be a lawyer. I hated being a professional asshole so I decided to go amateur. ;)

Hey Jason, remember dinner Memorial Day night at TF? I think you commented about how half the table were computer geeks of some sort. B|

I don't think the forum will allow me to go back in and add "Accountant". Otherwise, I would update it. Oh well....

BASE jumpers are geeks.

I was thinking about this a while back to. I thought it was a little weird that most of our local crew has careers in either engineering or computers. We're mostly married geeks with mortgages and somewhat "normal" lives. It's just that when all our other peers are out golfing or puttering around at home we're useually out flickin off something. It's good to know were not the only geeks who lead double lives!

i once head that the reason is that the "geeks"gets no action in the normal day, which reflect to a natural instinct. But who am i to tell i just like to jump off objects;)

I checked OTHER.

I'm a babysitter for a multimillion $$$ roofing material company. I believe the technical name for my position is Supervisor.

BASE jumping is more than just a recreational pastime for me. It's a weekly stress reliever.

I wasn't supprised to see the majority of the votes in favor of computer related careers. After all, that's where the big push has been for the past 10 or so years.

I'm working in a veterinary hospital as a radiology technician while I attend veterinary school and get an MBA.

I don't tell many people about BASE because I'd just get criticized. Also, if I talk about base I may lose my eventual Aesculapian authority, which could be significantly valuable to my future career.

I started base jumping for me alone, and I think people in society won't ever understand it to be anything less than a crazy stunt. to me it's not a stunt at all.

I am now retired and work a little here and there but only short tem work is accepted . I play with photography a lot but it is more for the challenge than the money . I base jump at least 3 days a week and might get around to going to the dropzone if there weren't base sites in between here and there .

I'm your average commercial carpenter that also gets to knock buildings down.

It's pretty cool.

What about teachers?
If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead.

It's normally considered quite rude to knock teachers down with explosives.

Trust this helps.
