Sirob 0 #1 October 13, 2003 Last weekend BirdMan Robert was testing new toys (still under development). He jumped with BASE Pantz & Jacket and had average vertical speed 122 km/h according to his ProTrack. Forward speed was great and he was flying over DZ like glider. Some thought he is flying WS.... Even he was surprised with the performance!!!
ove 0 #2 October 13, 2003 Hello! Got pictures? When will they start producing? "Bird-man" wannabe with to few jumps to ligaly jump a [wingsuit... Have pantz, and like'm a lot. Do, or do not. There is no try.
Sirob 0 #3 October 13, 2003 Sorry, I have no pictures but probably you will see Robert with new toys on Bridge Day. There you can ask all other details.
vesatoro 0 #4 October 13, 2003 I don't see that (122km/h) is really too revolutionary. Skinny people like me can do 130km/h with normal freefly suit in an efficient de-arched tracking position. And get a very good forward speed too... Vesa #845 "Fear is the path to the Dark side" (Master Yoda)
fastpete 0 #5 October 26, 2003 Yes....i tried it too...with Pantz and normal jacket...137km/h was pretty easy and i weight about 15kg more than vesa _____________________________________________ F......ck the Finns !!! Sirob 0 #6 October 27, 2003 My point was not vertical speed as number. Average speed of our 4-way is 197 km/h and Robert is not wearing additional weights, so that is his "normal" speed in FF. If you compare those two values it looks very nice. I think that light jumpers can go close to 100 km/h in that combination (BASE Pantz & Jacket).
3ringheathen 0 #7 October 28, 2003 For us backwards Americans: 5 miles = 8 kilometers Therefore, his fall rate was roughly 76mph. -Josh If you have time to panic, you have time to do something more productive. -Me* *Ron has accused me of plagiarizing this quote. He attributes it to Douglas Adams.
ManBird 0 #8 October 29, 2003 I get about the same fall rate in my Pantz that I do with my smoking suit, which is about 75 - 80 MPH (skydiving). Throw the BirdMan jacket it in there, and I bet I could do better with that than the smoking suit. That's a hard comparison to make, though, as not everyone has the same smoking suit (and I also have more experience with the Pantz than the smoking suit). Either way, I'm excited about the jacket."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
