kuwait_is_hell 0 #1 January 8, 2004 What are peoples' opinions on having a reserve static line fitted for someone of around 50 jumps like myself? I'm about to order a new rig and would like to know the pros and cons. In training you are told to leave a second or so between cutting away and pulling the reserve so that the main can fly clear of the area as the reserve is opened. Surely this won't happen if the reserve is opened by the rsl. Any advise appreciated.
SkydiveMonkey 0 #2 January 8, 2004 Do a search. it's been "debated" at some length ____________________ Say no to subliminal messages
AggieDave 6 #3 January 8, 2004 That's a HUGE can of warms. You might want to check the S&T articles elsewhere on this site and you might want to search the forums, since its been debated many times and you'll see all the different opinions out there in those threads (aka nothing new will be said). QuoteIn training you are told to leave a second or so between cutting away and pulling the reserve I've never heard that taught in a FJC, I've never even heard of anyone teaching that. Check the SIM to see what the USPA recommends. In the transition course I taught, I taught "look grab, look grab, peel pull, peel pull." Just like that. It just took you longer to say it then it takes to do it. Works like a champ.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." cHoDaBoY 0 #4 January 8, 2004 Sorry but im not going to give you advise on wether to use the rsl or not But I will add that if you are purchasing a new rig you might as well get an rsl with it. It can always be removed if you deciede not to use it. I did just that, but if i want to remove it in the future i will. Q. Why do birds sing? A. Because they dont have to pack when they land

The pros list is real short. It's got one item: "It may save your life". The cons list is even shorter. At 50 jumps, an RSL is a no-brainer. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. I also have had 4 reserve rides already (2 without RSL, an intentional and a lineover on a camera jump). If I would mainly do FS or FF or so, without camera's, I'd leave the RSL on. ciel bleu, Saskia
 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
