Looks pretty good. For packing ease, the center stabilizer should be a different color from the rest...but have you considered varying the stabilizer color? I bet that would look bad ass with all black stabilizers, but a blue center stabilizer. Wouldn't hurt the stealth factor, either.

It's all about looking good on video, baby! B|

edit to add: Black lines would look good on that color combination, too.

Congrats ... but is CR able to make a canopy in 14 days? Dang ... I ordered a canopy + container from BR and it's taking considerably longer. But I sit here patiently waiting for it's arrival (sometime in mid-April if I'm not mistaken).

By the way, mine will be

RED-RED-RED-BLACK-RED-RED-RED with BLACK stablizers and BLACK lines (I'm assuming the control lines will be RED) and the container will be RED with BLACK tie-die blotches.

my Blackjack was a stock canopy too and it's almost those exact colours, except the blues are all the same and the centre cell rib is a different colour, as Tom suggested in his post
it does look bad-ass with black lines...
I have a pic at home that I can post later if you want a little preview B|

take it easy

I have the same colors on my Black Jack 240.

I looked up the canopy you're getting. It's coming with ZP "foreskin", and black lines. It's very nice!

I'm glad to hear that you opted for the 260 rather than the 240.

Enjoy and Good luck!

CR does not make the canopy. PD does. I have an ACE 240 with composite upper: SIL SIL SIL BBR SIL SIL SIL with back stab. Overall I'm impressed with the quality of the construction.

how visible is the blue at night?

Years ago I was told a saying by an old jumper:

"If someone sees your canopy, you did something else far earlier that got you busted!"

Meaning, your canopy colors have less to do with you getting seen, than the preperation you need to do before the canopy is even open.

Just thought I would add that saying as it reminded me of the old days.

honestly, I don't know yet. I haven't gotten it out at night yet.

as a very lowtime jumper I've been fortunate enough to have had the opportunities to do all my jumps so far in the daytime ;)

so, what Mick said, I think the colour of your canopy and gear/clothing is far less of a factor in your stealth than your planning and behaviour

and on the subject of night-time stealth and colours, I've heard (and it's been my practical experience too) that black is not the best colour to minimise visibility at night, grey is.
the reason for this is that unless you're in zero light conditions (which doesn't sound like the kind of conditions that anyone would want to jump in), black is darker than the general backgound and stands out more than a light-to-medium shade of grey does...

anyone have any info/comments on this?

(edited for my dumbass spelling) :$

You'll hear a canopy LONG before you'll see it.

:$ feeling pretty stupid for not mentioning that now :$

I'm still in the sensory overload phase and I've only very recently started hearing my own openings or being consciously aware of the amount of noise I and those jumping with me make.

When I got my first canopy from Adam, I was told that the most stealthy colors where grey and midnight blue.
Solid (all cells) colors stand out more than broken up colors.
And Black is just too dark for most night time jumps.

My current canopy is gray.
In my own very limited experience, I've spent what seems like a little more time with my canopy exposed on the ground than in the air -- especially given the fact that people don't typically look up particularly when they're, say, driving -- so I'm feeling like something that melts into the shadows well is a good plan.
Oh, and groundwork of course. My own very limited experience is that by doing your groundwork you can be marginally confident of stealth during your 10 sec canopy ride, but maybe while you're stuffing your canopy in the bag some car comes around the corner and you have to duck...

Maybe this is just a condition of my minimal experience level and the couple of places I happen to have jumped so far.

why is that? you mean that theres a bigger chance to see the siullete at the sky or what?
I use a Black canopy, whith a purple center cell and stabilazors, white and red lines.. What you see omst at it when its open is the vents..(do they make them black?? mine are white, which aint stealth at allB|..).

Just an quick add,as said before, the first thing notice is the crack as the canopy opens, that will always be noisy and bring attention, its up to you to smoke it low,so you minimize the time in the air were you can be spotted,oh.. and a cleaver aussi once said"its under the canopy people gets hurt,so its about minimize that time"(might not word correct but like that),sounds like the right attitude to meB|

The black with purple is still broken up colors. Althought alternating cells is just better.

Yes, the larger the target (3-7 black canopy cells), is easier to see against a dark blue night sky.
Grey is just closer to that color.

What would you say is the best color scheme for packing? All my shit's red and black, so the colors are decided. I'm concerned more with packing right than getting busted or looking good.
