thutch 0 #4 July 25, 2004 Ohhhhh soooo negative Tom! What about the footage, or are you just stirring?!? Come on! It is sick! And you and everyone else know it. Let it ride! Let's take our "sport" to the front! Don't we all want to jump wherever and whenever we want? BASE needs to be accepted and appreciated by the mainstream public - and this is one of the ways of getting there - probably the best! You know what it is like in countries where it is accepted - we want this here too; and making a big fuss over some small transgression/s will get us no-where - leave it alone! Concentrate on the positive! I think Radix looks more rad than 2nd Base! What all you got? T-o-t
leroydb 0 #5 July 25, 2004 that not what he was getting at. i am sure he thinks it has some very progressive footage, but again, that's not what he is getting atLeroy ..I knew I was an unwanted baby when I saw my bath toys were a toaster and a radio... PhreeZone 20 #6 July 25, 2004 That was my first thoughts as I was watching it as a BASE whuffo. I thought that rail jumps were not allowed at the Idaho Bridge. Guess having a logo on the canopy makes that rule invalidYesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Zennie 0 #8 July 25, 2004 Nice video. Explains why WG & the PTs are hot right now. Oh ya and thanks for those k-rad shots of rail jumps from the Potato Bridge. I'm thoroughly impressed. TomAiello 26 #10 July 25, 2004 QuoteBASE needs to be accepted and appreciated by the mainstream public - and this is one of the ways of getting there - probably the best! I don't agree. Putting out videos of jumpers breaking the few rules that apply to an object, then shrugging it off when other jumpers complain, and essentially saying "we'll keep doing what we want." What does that sound like to you? Because to me it sounds like exactly what happened in Yosemite 25 years ago. And it certainly was not "the best" way to get BASE "accepted and appreciated" there, was it? I can hear the flatbed starting up...-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
base428 1 #11 July 25, 2004 With all the recent problems over the Red Bull guys jumping from the rail, I think this video is solid proof that some jumpers just don't give a crap about site preservation or their fellow jumpers.(c)2010 Vertical Visions. jimmyh 0 #12 July 25, 2004 That's right Tim has been around since a lot of people's first jumps, so have I. In fact I've been around longer than almost everybody who's talking smack. Listen, you all are very quick to say things like, "So that's why some sites are hot." Get off it. Every site in Northern California has been hot since the first yahoo jumped with a racer and a colaspable pilot chute. By telling people they should be pissed off at these videos does nothing productive. I've been around long enough to point some middle fingers back at the people who are pointing fingers at me. I've seen endless daylight footage of all of you. The only difference is, I don't care. If you don't want to see my videos, don't watch. I'm not making them to look cool or get approval from anyone. I'm doing these videos because I feel like it. It's not for money, respect, sponsors, approval, or friends. Keep saying that objects are hot because of me, and I'm going to get irritated. These objects are in my back yard. I'm the local here and I know more than most you about the state of their jumpability. Some of you guys are becoming characatures of yourselves. And almost all are guilty of the charges being thrown out. It's a hardcore sport, and if you can't handle the way some of us are doing it, get out of it. Go back to jumping out of planes where the only thing you'll ever be guilty of burning is the ozone. Again, don't watch if you don't want. But stop accusing me of stuff, and don't be hypocritical. Thanks, Jimmy
TomAiello 26 #13 July 25, 2004 QuoteThese objects are in my back yard. I own a home in Twin Falls, Idaho. I didn't realize you lived here as well.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

TomAiello 26 #15 July 25, 2004 Very silly, most of the time. There are no B's in Twin Falls to jump. I was actually discussing the rail jumps made at the local S. I don't really think of it as "mine". I'm pretty sure it belongs to the people of the state of Idaho, so I guess in a sense it's very fractionally "mine" though.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
Faber 0 #16 July 25, 2004 so becourse you live there it means you have the rights to make us look bad at objects near you? i dont think so.. Personaly i think the vid look great, cool jumps but hey it dont make it better that its good stuff if you ruin the place you want to jump tommorow. Its not about you jumping off the rail or skies, but that you didnt cared s### about the rules at the site which could make it hard to jump there in the future... If your are a real BASE jumper then you calculate risk. You must have seen this comming,if not perhaps your the one that should go back burning ozone... Zennie 0 #19 July 25, 2004 This BD you will see lots of video of the Houston crew day jumping stuff. Does that make me a hypocrite? No. The difference is that: 1. When we jumped the Potato Bridge, we DIDN'T jump from the rail; 2. Moab pretty much speaks for itself; 3. Our day As are extremely remote (think "Deliverance" remote) & we're the only ones jumping them; and 4. Our ONE day B is also only being jumped by us in a very low-to-no bust part of town. The point we're trying to make isn't that cool video is bad. Hell, I like seeing me on video as well. The point is, you CAN get plenty of very cool video and still play by the rules. (also note my usage of the words "our" and "us" when referring to objects, not "mine" and "me"... you may want to add those to your vocabulary) - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon
hookitt 1 #20 July 25, 2004 >> I wasn't refering to your B.<< Jimmy, ((that's an S not a B )) Cool footage I will admit. Rail jumps I will never agree with. Much of the BIG A jumps, are fine. Perhaps a tiny bit late in the morning but you personaly know about one of my morning jumps. It was fun and no one was the wiser. By the way what you didn't hear was Shane said ... " Jimmy might get pissed but it's getting late, let's get off this thing" ... The sun was still below the horizon but it was getting very light out. The PT's have become many fold hotter in the past 3 years. The packing under the tower to headlights, and some other folks that believe it's ok to jump in the day have made it that way. Still jumpable, but people are being run off. You and I will disagree on certain things. You and I have had face to face conversations about day jumps. If "person A" jumps in the day and is seen running off... "person B" who jumps later is much more likely to be under the watchful eye. I've been lucky a few times. You even agreed with me ... reluctantly. Jimmy I won't talk behind your back. I don't agree with the rail jumps. It's the only rule. I was skeptical about the scrutiny y'all were getting up until I saw the preview. It's no wonder Don was getting angry and brought it to the sheriffs attention. I'm certain that you thought noboday cared about day jumps on the PTs. (by the way, Kirby is a lucky f*cker* doing those ... athletic... flips). Bottom line, the talent is good, it's the fuck y'all attitude that's being displayed. I'm just some shmuck that wants to jump off stuff now and then and keep objects like the legal S, legal, and local stuff not so challenging to get on, get off, and get away with. I'd rather jump with you than not. I don't jump enough at the DZ you play at but when I do, it's nice to know we can hang out with out tension. Remember that Battle between you me and Miles? Miles kicked our collective asses. Shit like that is loads of fun. What's done is done, and there's no changing it. I do wish there was a tad more respect for those of us without the means to just go find other stuff to flick ... that's all. Tim
Zennie 0 #21 July 25, 2004 QuoteMuch of the BIG A jumps, are fine. Perhaps a tiny bit late in the morning but you personaly know about one of my morning jumps. It was fun and no one was the wiser. I think most folks agree that dawn and dusk jumps on higher profile objects is in-bounds. I'll have to re-watch the trailer but what struck me was that a sizeable portion of the PT & WG jumps were in broad daylight. If they were all dawn/dusk, my apologies.... but some sure don't look like it. The whole site-heating issue is sort of like pornography... I can't define it, but I know it when I see it. And what makes one transgression forgiveable and the other tar & featherable isn't the act, it's the attitude afterward. JV didn't get the T&F treatment solely because he burned the crane... he got it because of his "fuck all of you" attitude afterward. From people that I've talked to, WG & the PTs aren't "burned" per se, but they're awfully darn warm (but slowly cooling off). - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon
hookitt 1 #22 July 25, 2004 The big A was morning loads. Some were a bit lighter than should be expected. Getting on for a dusk load isn't heard of. The PTs at dusk, isn't a good Idea anymore. It's climbed in view of any one looking. Morning, it's fine. ... PS, I was just accused of being too nice in my previous post. He said I made my point though. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
jimmyh 0 #23 July 25, 2004 I have to admit, you all are being pretty cool, and Tim is right; I relunctantly agree. The rail jumps will never happen again, but they were done. Not again, I promise. I've actually never known what BASE stands for. The B isn't bridge? Anyway... All the jumps in that video were way more stealthy than they look. I'd be glad to jump them with any of you any time and if you don't agree with my style then cool. The funny thing is, we all get along. I'd hate for that to change. I'm the lucky one. i'm the one doing the scary flipping in the vid. There's two distinct issues here: 1. the rail jumps which I cannot defend; nor will I try. They won't be done again, so in time, as long as the bridge stays open, it will all just be water under the S. 2. the other jumps in the vid. Ican and will defend them because I know when and how they actually took place. True enough that if I get seen the guy behind me might get caught. Plus the added surveilance. But there was a lot less light than can be judged by the vid. If I were shooting film on those, it would have looked like midnight. whether people see my video, think I'm dayblazing, and then do exactly that...I'm not sure, but that's another discussion for another time because I gotta go do a tandem right now. Do any of you know where I can buy a cheap flatbed? I have this great idea for the park. later, Jimmy
Zennie 0 #24 July 25, 2004 Thanks Jimmy for your post. QuoteThe rail jumps will never happen again, but they were done. Not again, I promise. Water under the S, as you say. And I apologize for my comments regarding when those jumps were made... it does look bright, but as you said, video can be misleading. I think everyone is on the same page... which is good. I will say this... aside from the controversy behind some of the jumps, they ARE pretty damn badass and the editing is very good. I'm trying to figure out who that is in the soundtrack... sounds vaguely Iron Maiden-ish but I don't think it is. Hopefully we can all put this behind us, move forward and share a beer or 3 at Bridge Day. I have a feeling there's going to be some stiff competition at this year's video contest. - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon
