eipmoez 0 #26 November 1, 2004 Quote Height and weight: 5'8", 175 lbs Parachute: Ace 220, Rock Dragon 266 Sounds like an interesting wingloading for base. Is that your weight with gear and clothing included? Edited to add that I am referring to the Ace 220. Do you still use this canopy, and if so, in what conditions (more wind, bigger landing areas, terminal vs. non-terminal)? Thanks, Eipmoez $e^{i\pi}+1=0$ how humbling, an error
Zennie 0 #27 November 1, 2004 QuoteI am referring to the Ace 220. Do you still use this canopy, and if so, in what conditions (more wind, bigger landing areas, terminal vs. non-terminal)? Most of my jumps with that canopy have been off of terminal towers in moderate wind conditions. So that wingloading is good for having a bit of extra forward drive. At the time that I purchased it, I weighed just a *tad* less, so I've since outgrown it a touch. In fact, the thing I've had to get used to is the dramatic difference in drive between the 220 and the 266... especially since the Rock Dragon has been designed to have even less forward drive than comparable canopies. I like them both and I think they are both fine in their respective environments (the 220 for moderate/high wind terminal As, the 266 for short delays). - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon

Religious Zealots of all persuasions. What is your favorite quote? ...The only time you should look down on someone is when you are giving them a hand up (Martin Luther King or Ali-I forget). or "They asked for it" Julius Caesar after looking at the carnage following Pharsalus during Roman Civil war. What is your philosophy on life? The clocks always ticking, you have to cram all the experiences in whilst you still draw breath. What is something most people don’t know about you? The Drs thought I was retarded when I was born. My mother thinks they are still correct. Who has inspired you in BASE-jumping? Easy. Saw an old documentary when I was about 16 that was called the 'Human Fly.' I think it featured an Aussie called Nick F. Even though it wasn't until 1989 when I did my first base jump, that was the catalyst (the 2nd was 11 yrs later) What is your most memorable BASE jumping moment? Easy-there's 3 of them. (1)Wingsuit from Eiger carring ashes of a deceased base'r, (2)standing on top of a building in Auckland, hucking only to land next to the police and ambulance crew who had been attending a fight between 2 large homies. I landed in the middle of it all and started to walk away...heh, heh. (3) Xmas eve-up a tall object in AZ with some friends in the freezing cold. Harness and container:Two Warlocks by the company previously known as Vertigo Parachute:Dagger 277, Rock Dragon 303 Home Dropzone:Have to say Mile Hi Records or Awards:First person to succesfully execute a "steamroller" (to MY knowledge) Pet peeves:Well, appropriately, every ASS who told me six times over the last week that I need to vote, and how I need to vote, and where I need to vote, and who I should vote for, and what I should vote for, and why I should vote for them, and why I should vote for that... seriously. People who take all of this WAY too seriously (life I mean). What is your favorite quote?"Your heart is free, have the courage to follow it." What is your philosophy on life?I think we are way to simple to understand something as complex as life and death. What is something most people don't know about you?How I really feel a lot of the time. Who has inspired you in BASE?That's hard because of the amount of people, and some of you probably would have no idea why but... Rick H., Dwain W., Jimmy P., Marta, Peter, Jamie, Ray P., Katie, Chad, Vlady, Tom A., Russell, Aaron (from B.C.), Bob S., Dan G., Tim M., Miles D., all of the videos I watched (Standard Issue, Continuum, 1st BASE, BASE Forever, it goes on), and of course, last but certainly not least, all of the girls who made me despondant enough to need to try something new, just to clear my mind. Most memorabe BASE jumping moment:I was doing a four way at the potato, one person going from the "dark side". I did a gainer in the middle of two friends. I looked over as I was coming around to see my friends chute coming out of her pack tray and stretching. I pitched and looked up at my sniveling canopy (slider up) and saw above me my friends canopies filling the gap where I would have been. I don't know why, but it was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. I realized on that jump that I enjoyed seeing my friends there with me in that perfect place, sharing the experience, way more than I enjoyed pounding out solo's trying to add another rotation. Thanks guys, I won't likely forget that one. Describe Adam Foster in five words or less:Trying to figure it out. I BASE jump because...Initially I have no idea. It has become this amazing thing that plagues (in a good way) my dreams and constantly runs through my mind. I can't seem to justify "It's fun" due to the trade off of death though. So what I think it has really become is this: I have never been more scared of anything than I am at a lot of exit points, except when it comes to death. Death scares me more, and I think by standing face to face with what I fear most (in BASE), it will assist me to face anything, even death.
