TomAiello 26 #26 November 5, 2004 QuoteIf I tried to know everything inside-out before trying it... To echo what Jay said: BASE is a sport where you _must_ know everything inside out, upside down and backward. You need to do the homework before you start chucking yourself off of things. Failure to do so will result in harsh consequences, sooner or later.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
hookitt 1 #27 November 5, 2004 Mastering skills such as "BASIC" rigging will allow to asses and maintain your gear QuoteWhy isn't buying simple and user friendly gear not the answer? It is the answer and all the rigs out there ARE simple and user friendly. There are some select differences in each manufactures container. Minus thse differences they all go together the same way. You are your own rigger. Parachutes and Harnesses are for the most part, very simple. Knowing how to assemble and configure a BASE rig is a basic skill that every BASE jumper should own. With time you become more proficient. . If Person "A" takes 2 hours to assemble and pack a rig and person "B" takes 1 hour, that's ok, but the end result should be the same. Hope that helps. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
willh 0 #28 November 5, 2004 I have to agree with Basejumperjeff the Oddssey fx 2 pin rig with dynamic corners from paratech rigging is the rig for me. Clean lines good looks all around great container whether I'm doing terminal big walls or low freefalls. Most of the Canadians I know are jumping it.
TomAiello 26 #29 November 5, 2004 Not to continue replaying this saga too many times, but if you have a look at this BLiNC thread, you can read my thoughts on the Odyssey FX. My review of the container is here.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
KMonster 0 #30 November 10, 2004 Hehe, yes I have taken over Dexter's Softcock (really he's nice enough to lend it to me seeing as how the NPS has my container and my new Perigee Pro is in the process of being made). It's an awesome rig. It's easy to close, opens clean, looks sharp and has been a pleasure to jump. Katie.

TomAiello 26 #35 November 10, 2004 I recently put together this list of all the containers I could think of off the top of my head, that seem to be reasonably available at the moment. I don't know if this helps, but here it is: Atmosphere (ParaAvis) Gargoyle (Morpheus) WS Xtreme (Morpheus) Medusa (Morpheus) V Wizard (Apex, formerly Vertigo) V Warlock (Apex, formerly Vertigo) Sorcerer (Apex, formerly Vertigo) Vertex (Basic Research, no longer produced) Prism (Basic Research, no longer produced. Vertex 2 (Apex, formerly Basic Research) Prism 2 (Apex, formerly Basic Research) Reactor 4 (Apex, formerly Basic Research) V Reactor 3 (Basic Research, no longer produced) V Perigee Classic (Consolidated Rigging, no longer produced) V Perigee II (Asylum, formerly Consolidated Rigging) V Perigee Pro (Asylum, formerly Consolidated Rigging) Vision (Gravity Sports) V Soft Cock (Bounceproof Rigging) V Odyssey (Paratech) V Odyssey FX (Paratech) Neo (Bombproof) Relax (Performance Variable) Hummit V I've marked the velcro rigs with 'V'. The rest are pins.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
pBASEtobe 0 #36 November 10, 2004 QuoteI've marked the velcro rigs with 'V'. The rest are pins. Aren't the Reactor rigs velcro? I think you forgot the "V's" after those ones. They don't produce the earlier version rigs? For instance you can no longer get a Prism 1? That's a bummer!

321Cya 0 #38 November 10, 2004 Have a look at the Russian made Atmosphere. Russian priced and rocksolid (like their Mig, Mir and Vodka )... I love mine! http://www.paraavis.com/en/parachutes/rigs/atmosphere/ Cya, J.
JohnnyUtah 0 #39 November 10, 2004 Tom, you missed putting a V by the Perigee II, Vision, and Soft Cock. edit to add: you also might want to add the Hummit.
