riggerrob 643 #26 January 31, 2004 Always amusing to hear people complain about the cost of maintaining Cypres. It used to be that FXC AADs had to be chamber tested at every repack and visit the factory EVERY YEAR. Problem was that fe field riggers could afford test chambers, so that check usually got skipped. The only thing that has changed is that now they only have to visit the factory every second year. Now that VIGIL is promising zero maintenance, I am suspicious. Think I will reread what the VIGIL manual has to say about sending software to field riggers so they can check VIGILs in the field. I would trust any AAD that was more than 5 years away from a factory.
RMURRAY 1 #27 January 31, 2004 I'd take it out and give it away - if it is not maintained there is a chance it could be a hazard to others...I don't have an AAD - probably never will - but would maintain it if I did have one. rm
Tonto 1 #28 February 2, 2004 QuoteI would trust any AAD that was more than 5 years away from a factory. Me too. Another 11 dives this weekend with the damn thing not firing! Money down the drain, I say! (Although I think that may have been a Typo..) tIt's the year of the Pig.

JPDECHENE 0 #30 February 17, 2004 Funny how costs can differ from country to country. In Belgium, price for a Cypres 1 was about 900 Euros. but maintenance costs only 150 Euros plus eventually 55 Euros for batteries replacement. Maybe you should have a serious word with the Cypres representative in the UK Anyway after more than 30 years jumping without an AAD, I wouldn't do it now without my Cypres. mr2mk1g 10 #31 February 17, 2004 is that in total over its life span? or per service/battery change? if you mean per service/battery change (surely you must) then try multiplying that by the number of times you have to do the service and replace the batteries in the life of the cypres... you might come out with a figure that more closely equates to meatbomb's. Hooknswoop 19 #32 February 17, 2004 There was recently a Cypres mis-fire that had not been serviced. It had not been updated witht he shielding and fired on the ground near a radio-wave source. Derek
phoenixlpr 0 #33 February 17, 2004 In Finland it costs 69E for batteries, 195/235E(normal/express) for maintenance.
