AFF Course in the States BUT finish A License in Canada...Questions

Im going down to Florida to do my AFF course, and wondering if I will have to do any equivelancy when I get back to Canada and finish my jumps to get my A-License. Im trying to avoid paying double for the same training.

I assume if I stick with a USPA affiliate up here in Canada (3hrs away) to finish my jumps that wont be an issue. But if I go with a CSPA DZ, will I have to do any make up?

Any help would be appreciated.

What dropzones are you looking at going to once you finish your AFF?

The best thing you could do would be to call the local dropzones and ask them.

You could also call the dropzone in Florida and see if any of their AFF instructors are also CSPA instructors.

The best thing you can do is get into touch with the dropzones that you will be dealing with. There is a pretty good chance that people from the Canadian DZ will know people from the DZ in Florida and they can most likely work together to work with you.

I went through something similar when I started. I did a variation of AFF at a non-CSPA Canadian DZ, then jumped at a CSPA DZ. They checked my logbook, made me do a short delay check jump from 4k, then cleared me back to solo. Like Vader said, it will depend on the DZ, as well as what's in your logbook. In fact, that's true when you change DZ regardless of whether it's across associations or borders. If you don't have a license (and as a low timer possibly even if you do), you will (and should) be subject to some level of scrutiny and supervision.

It helps if you:
1. Complete the full AFF program at one DZ.
2. Get as many additional jumps as you safely and reasonably can.
3. Have your papers in order (logbook, yellow proficiency card).
4. Stay current (less than 30 days between jumps).
