shunkka 0 #1 April 19, 2005 on accuracy canopy`s (parafoil 7 cell) the slider come undone in 2 pieces after opening and the canopy obtain a a different shape when the slider is still on... it assemble the lines and the canopy isnt as stable as with the slider off it fly different if the slider isnt disconected my question is... a base canopy would fly different if the jump is slider off/on? how much a slider (on a base canopy) affect the fly? Faber 0 #2 April 19, 2005 if you look at swoopers you´ll notice that they usaly colaps their slider,stuck it behind their neck and might even loosen their cheststrap... The caopy simply looks better(and flyes better some say)whith out the slider after opening... Personaly i dont think you´ll feel the big difference at the BASE canopy if you jumps it slider down or off... I always jump it OFF through but thats as all my jumps are slider off and i think it looks bad as you pack your rig and the slider is storred at your risers,also its another thing to fuck up(to me its either on or off if its on its packed slider up,off then i dont worry if it should play whith my opening..). Without the slider holding the risers together above your head and chest strap holding the main lift webs together above your hips you have a more direct connection to the canopy and it responds more to harness input. Leaving the slider off should make the canopy more likely to stay facing in the same direction you are when it opens. Perhaps only enough to make a psychological difference.
