WS-Extreme

Recommended Posts

Heya All
Was wondering if anyones had experience on using a ws-extreme for general jumping inc low FF, static line etc?
Is it a good option for an all round rig? Any downsides?
Also is there any donwside generally for non-ws jumps with dynamic corners?

Thanks

I jump gargoyle with dynamic corners and I have made all kinds of jumps with it, from PCA's and low FF's to terminal tracks and ws flights. So far with abt. 60 jumps with it (most of them slider down FF's) I haven't found any downsides conserning dynamic corners. Perhaps a small downside is that it is perhaps slightly harder to pack but once you get used to it it is no problem what so ever.

It can be used as an all round rig, you simply change the top pin loop position from the floor plate to the top flap.

It is tricky to pack the first few times, but you get used to it.

A recent trend is to jump a slightly smaller canopy for WS jumps to reduce pack size and a larger canopy for slider off.

So I have a WS extreme with a Troll 245 for slider up, WS & tracking and a straight gargoyle with a Troll 265 MDV for slider off.

If you can't afford 2 rigs then you may have to compromise on canopy size.

Apart from packing, no.

What size canopy do you jump? How much do you weigh?

As UncleCharlie said, the WS-Xtreme can be converted to a non-wingsuit configuration that is pretty much like a regular gargoyle.

The only issue is going to be canopy sizing. If you are jumping larger sized canopies, you'll not have room for them in a WS-Xtreme. If this is the case, I'd strongly recommend getting a second (larger) container for low jumps, as well (of course) as a second (larger) canopy.

can you tell me the advantage of a soft yoke over a standard yoke?

I believe it improves the aerodynamics of the container for wingsuit flight (or tracking). For a complete answer, I'd recommend contacting the manufacturer directly.

I'd check with Morpheus. I'm not sure you can get a WS-Xtreme sized that large.
