velvet 0 #1 February 9, 2004 I'm looking at a DOM 96 Javelin. I was wondering what they have changed since then and if this was a "good" or "bad" year for them? Obviously best to buy the newest you can afford, but any insight is most welcomed?
skydiverek 63 #2 February 9, 2004 QuoteI'm looking at a DOM 96 Javelin. I was wondering what they have changed since then The new ones have a reserve flap that tucks-in (less snag hazard) and bridle cover flap (reduced possibility of horsheshoe malufunction). The latest Javelin have cut in laterals, bringing the rig closer to your back. Some older Javelins were also made (as an option) with soft housings (read: bad). hookitt 1 #6 February 9, 2004 Are looking to buy a 96? Ask the owner if he had hard housing installed. By the way, the riser covers have been redesigned since then as well.My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... skydiverek 63 #7 February 9, 2004 Plus, thay have soft riser housings now. Also, I think the RSL side was changed over time too (from right to left).

mr2mk1g 10 #9 February 10, 2004 the date is less important than the MK number. AFAIK there's a mkI, mkII mkIII and the Odyssey.
nbblood 0 #10 February 11, 2004 I have a 96 Javelin that I'm selling. All above are true. However, I've had the bridle cover and hard housings installed on mine, plus I have a CReW flap on my reserve flap that helps the "snagging" problem. So it depends on what has been done to the rig, ask the seller. Blues. NathanBlues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute. dgskydive 0 #11 February 11, 2004 QuoteDifferences between old and New JAVELINS? About $300.00 and months of waitingDom
SkydiveNFlorida 0 #12 February 12, 2004 I bought an old jav, too. I got hard housings installed for about 30$ and bridal cover for about the same. I see how the reserve flap being tucked in would be cool... but i've never had my reserve flap open in freefall, it is pretty secure and I try not to open it all the way when checking the pin. If it's a good deal, go for it. You can add simple things like hard housings & bridal cover. I love my javelin:) ! Angela.
