base698 19 #1 February 17, 2004 Just got a new set from PD. I was thinking about hand sewing down after I finger trap them. I was curious if I should wait on a sewing machine so I can bartack it? Thanks
PhreeZone 20 #2 February 17, 2004 I would'nt completly sew them down. As the lines wear and shrink you'll need to keep letting them out to keep the canopy flying where its at now. Every 75-100 jumps I let mine back out about 1/2"-3/4" to keep it where I like it. If you sew it in place you have to replace the lowers if you want to adjust them.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
base698 19 #3 February 17, 2004 I jump vectran, so shrinkage shouldn't be a problem...
PhreeZone 20 #4 February 17, 2004 The Velocity should be fully tacked already. At least they were shipping that way at one point. Total side note... What weight and material type would everyone reccommend replacing break lines with? I'm leaning towards 600lb Dacron, but would like comments on any material.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
base698 19 #5 February 17, 2004 Yeah they are but I'm talking about the attachment to the upper control lines.
iowa 0 #6 February 17, 2004 I used the "no sew finger trap". Works real slick. Keith ''Always do sober what you said you would do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut.'' - Ernest Hemingway
