pjchis 0 #1 November 14, 2005 I am in the process of writing a BASE book. It's a simple thing really, not a guide to BASE jumping although it CAN offer some insight (or just plain reading material) for those in the sport or interested in the sport. It's basically a compilation of stories from various BASE jumpers from all walks of life. Each section (about the jumper) would include a quick biography/how they got into BASE, the story of their best jump, and their most frightening experience BASE jumping. This book is not written for or against BASE jumping but rather it's a tribute to this reality-defying sport and the best and most experienced members in it. If you are interested in submitting YOUR stories for the book, contact me at timetojump@mac.com with "BASE BOOK" in the heading. Please only e-mail me if you are serious about collaborating (this would involve an interview and permission to have your story published) and only if you are an experienced BASE jumper. (I realize the subjective nature of the word 'experienced' so let's call that 400+ BASE jumps.) Thank you for your time and safe jumping. badenhop 0 #2 November 14, 2005 Hello, Um, Brett, sorry to interrupt here, BASE is not reality defying, it is reality defining. Avery================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. Dolly Parton http://www.AveryBadenhop.com
pope 0 #3 November 14, 2005 Quote (I realize the subjective nature of the word 'experienced' so let's call that 400+ BASE jumps.) You're missing out on a lot of great stories--I know many, MANY people with 50-400 BASE jumps with stories that will top most you've got! good luck, pope

RhondaLea 4 #5 November 15, 2005 I have two questions. Just curious. Why did you choose base as the subject for your book? And do you ever intend to base jump yourself? rlIf you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
pjchis 0 #6 November 15, 2005 Between us, I have BASE jumped. I hope to pursue the sport further after I get more skydiving experience. As for why? Honestly, an experienced BASE friend of mine asked me to post this, he's going to be doing the writing. He just wanted help finding some stories. Not sure if he is going to go through with it cause he's got a lot on his plate career wise, but he has been published.
DexterBase 1 #7 November 15, 2005 How much do you know about BASE jumping? Are you sure you're the person we want to tell our story? We already have a few (very) talented writers in our midst and they know what makes us tick. Some of them are BASE jumpers themselves. Do you have a sample of your work? I definitely have some cool stories, and not all of them are about BASE, but I'm pretty careful who I would share those stories with if they're going to be published anywhere but here. If I was going to have a story of mine go into a book, I'd have to do some background research on the writer.

Not sure if he is going to go through with it cause he's got a lot on his plate career wise, but he has been published. You might be better off to have him post, using his own name. I'm a bit worried by the fact that you have just admitted that you are attempting to gather people's stories about potentially illegal acts under a false identity. I'd strongly urge you to come clean with details of the project, who is involved, and what will be done with the information.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

pjchis 0 #10 November 16, 2005 Hm, you guys are right. I thought he was just too lazy to get on this site, but maybe he's doing something suspicious. Wonder how I can remove this thread...
DexterBase 1 #12 November 16, 2005 Lesson #1 about BASE jumpers for you: we're a suspicious bunch. If something doesn't add up, we'll probably see through it and call you on it. Nice try though.
pjchis 0 #13 November 16, 2005 Nothing to see through. I was just trying to help a friend out, but I can understand everybody's concern. That's why I'm going to let him know to get on dropzone.com himself and post this. His name is Roger and works at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science with me. I figure it wasn't a big deal and I was just doing him a favor... but you guys are making me paranoid and I'm going to ask him about it (and get the details) on Friday! Fair 'nuff? I don't want to get involved in his business.
