DexterBase 1 #28 December 9, 2005 Quote7000 feet of blade running down a glacier. Okay, that's pretty cool, but at the King, you can exit, then thread your canopy flight between massive desert spires and fly in close proximity to some of the most radical rock features I've ever seen. Some of the towers have some really unlikely looking formations. Just a badass experience.

Some of the towers have some really unlikely looking formations. Just a badass experience. You don't start on the glacier. You jump into a crevasse that has ice flows on the sides, then you turn left, fly between the ice flows and out of the crevasse, and onto the glacier. Then you turn right and slide down the glacier. If you were completely insane (DW wouldn't consider it--that's how insane it is) you could turn right after exit and thread between two rock spires and under a manmade bridge.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

TomAiello 26 #31 December 9, 2005 Mine has a tram to the exit, and a cool little cafe at the top making these unearthly good donuts. I'm not sure if that's a positive or a negative. I do think that as Americans we are sometimes guilty of thinking the US has the best of everything. But as BASE jumpers we are usually less guilty than other Americans.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

CBRnick 0 #37 December 9, 2005 QuoteI think you can see why I'm still smiling..... . thanks, DEX & LEE Chad still had a big smile on his face from Moab last night. I could see it in Free-Fall as I was looking up........ . I have a question about the rocks in these two pictures. In the big pile o dirt picture, is that somone standing at the pinnicle of the lower of the two fingers of rock or is it just a trick of the camera. I bet the view is fucking awsome from up there :) And obviously you have to climb to the top, so what do you do with all the climbing gear you use to get there? Do you jump with it or do you have someone to abseil back down with it after you jump? Or do you just freeclimb to the top? If you freeclimb it with a rig on your back, im not sure what commands more respect from me. The fact you jumped it or the fact you freeclimbed it...

The fact you jumped it or the fact you freeclimbed it..." ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, It will be a COLD day In HELL, when you catch me FreeClimbing that HUGE Dust-Pile. I did not pull lead on setting those Ropes. I only Tagged Along. By Jugging up behind with my gear and once with some extra rope for a pitch. The real Bad Asses that deserve Credit for me being able to go to the Top is Lee & Chad P. On one day we left all Jumping Gear Tied and secure on the 3rd pitch. It made the climb to the Top a breeze to haul-ass up to the top and jump the Next Day. . I did see some interesting & skilled Climbing while we were on the way to the top the 1st day. I did see a Climber do the beginning bolt-ladder and free climb the chimney to the 2nd pitch we were at a couple times. I could not help be notice he was having a little difficulty towards the top of the dusty and crumbling Chimney. When I saw him use His -FACE- as well as Hands and Feet to make a Hold and not Fall Off..... . After watching all the fun He was having. I decided. That's Not for me my friend. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, cbrnick: ..."And obviously you have to climb to the top, so what do you do with all the climbing gear you use to get there?" . It's not as hard as it Sounds. You just wear your Jacket and Climbing Harness. Then put all you hardware inside an oversize Fanny-Pack and strap that on. Then pit your Rig on over that. then Jump. I Hauled all the gear Like Rigs, Protective Hard Gear,. Water etc. On a simple Personal Pull set-up behind me. With a Tib-loc & Beener and some 6mm line. Fixed to the 11mm that I Jugged up on the first half of the climb. If a fat, old & lazy basterd like myself could do it. You will have NO problems. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I bet the view is fucking awsome from up there :) . The View and the Jump was Worth the Wait and the work to get there. Also the Signing of the Log-Book on the top is pretty cool too. There are NOT that many #'s of BASE Jumpers in that book ahead of US. I felt pretty Lucky that day. . Gaper 0 #44 December 12, 2005 Potash!! It's got it all. If you hike the road you can usually catch a ride with one of the 4 wheel drive vehicles doing the class 4 trail. So not only do you ride to the top, it's fun as hell!! Then It's a short walk down hill to the exit point. The view is excellent, the cliff is tall and the landing area is beautiful. Then when it's all over you get in your car and go to the Moab diner for breakfast! Don't know why I like being at the top of that cliff so much, it just feels right.
