magot 0 #3 April 3, 2006 What Dale means is that he is looking for people to jump with in his area and has already found several Antennas around his home he also is a pilot and finds them that way aswell . HydroGuy 0 #4 April 3, 2006 Quotehey a new mentor! i'm sure there are lots of people at the local DZ that think BASE is kool and would love to come learn a thing or two!! Wow, my buddy finishes a FJC, but knows of no jumpers in his area. So he comes here trying to find locals to jump with and learn from...if there are any. And you give him shit for it? Did you really misconstrue his "I only have 14 jumps off the bridge" as I am a new mentor looking to flik people off stuff? Or could you just not pass up the opportunity to take a cheap shot at someone new? Obviously mine is a rhetorical question, as we both already know the answer. Hope it made you feel big...Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

blitzkrieg 0 #6 April 3, 2006 first off, it was a joke... a cynical joke, but a joke none-the-less. i may be mistaken, as i have been many times in the past, but i was under the impression that most FJCs ask or at least sincerely request that you have a mentor in your local area. regardless, the way his original post came across... it sure looked like he was just asking for people to come along... if he just doesn't know of any locals, it may have been better phrased to ask if there were any around to show HIM around. just my first thought. don't be offended. i'm not too good on the internet. btw, my words are sincere... be safe. Dale is aware of the "contact the locals" protocol. He's also already aware of the (very few) locals in his area, and is actively seeking contacts (not just on this forum) for jumpers who he might be able to travel to with a little more effort. He's also not very experienced at internet communication, which may be why his intentions and process didn't come across very clearly. He took the Apex FJC last week, and stuck around for a couple days to jump with other folks (including me). I think that this is just a case of internet-derived mistaken communications.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
