huckalingus 0 #1 April 7, 2006 Thought it might be intresting to hear everyones first base jump experience. Mine was off a 730ft bridge and i listened to Metallica the whole way there. While counting down at the exit i was thinking "i can't do this" "I can't do this" "i can't do this" then i was in the air and it was the most serene expience of my life. And now i'm hooked and can't get base jumping out of my head. my second ATTEMPT at a jump involved to sheriff heli's. That was the most actioned packed jump of them all. Twoply 0 #5 April 8, 2006 I wanted to start base and I couldn't find anyone in my area so I ended up going 5 hours away to some strange group in Michigan who was current. My mentors and I tried 3 different weekends and on the 4th I finally got off the A at about 600 feet. I'm pretty sure it was a good launch and nice landing around midnight. I remember thinking "I dig this," and knowing I'd do this again. About 2 weeks later I bought a tiny mojo 240 from a friend of a friend and proceeded to do about 40 solos over the next few months before finding some other jumpers in my area. I weighed about 200 pounds before gear and never stood up a landing.
Lonnie 0 #6 April 8, 2006 My first one was off an A-750ft, all alone. BASE#97 was on the ground because of a Skydiving injury. He loaned me a 42" PC, and I went off using my Skydiving rig, 9-cell with 1" risers, free packed,slider-down, using the death coil. I was supposed to wait for sunrise, but after about 30 mins. alone up there, I just had to jump! I called down and told them I was going NOW. They tried to get me to wait for light, but the next thing they heard was, FUCK YOUUUUUU, as I left. Made three more with the same set-up, before I smartened up!NEVER GIVE UP!
