They seem to have changed the headline to your link, since it now says "Ohio Teen Drowns After Jumping Off Rock Ledge into Lake Martin", which removes the BASE association. Not much comfort for the parents, but a more accurate reflection of the actual event, Just My Penny - 'No comments are meant to offend individuals and are purely a personal view presented by myself'. NickDG 23 #8 July 6, 2006 Another jumper (thanks Ken) contacted them and the Producer apologized saying he'd worked on BASE stories while in Twin Falls so he knows what BASE is. He said someone else added the "BASE jumping" reference in error. He also added that the word "base" should have been in caps as it's an acronym. NickDG 23 #10 July 7, 2006 It appears the story was picked up by the Associated Press. Now it'll be in every newspaper and on every news website - and guess what? Look at the headline . . . NickD BASE
d_goldsmith 1 #11 July 7, 2006 Someone should try to notify the press that BASE refers to parachuting from the objects not any form of jumping from them. This could end up being bad press and might effect the NPS stuff and all other object inquiries.
