I lost two of my best freinds yesterday.

Recommended Posts

A fellow BASE jumper and a fellow towpilot, two of my best freinds, were lost in a plane crash over the continental divide yesterday morning. I will miss Heather McRoberts and Dave Para forever. They know something now that i do not.

I had just brought Heather to the Perrine bridge on the 10th of july for her first 4 BASE jumps. She was good. Nobody will ever be able to match her spirit. I promise you that.

Dave, Heather, and I were towpilots together for a long time, Dave and Heather were probably the best towpilot at MHG has ever seen.

They died in Alexs and my 1969 American Champion Citabria over the continental divide. there is hardly any details, and DAMN the fucking MEDIA. so i will give you what i know.

Heather has been a liscensed pilot since she was 15. (is now 19) she had close to 1000 hours, almost all of then tailwheel. I would ride with her anyday.

Dave has been a Liscensed pilot for 3 years at least. also near 1000 hours, again almost all tailwheel.

Two extremely current and able pilots, with almost ALL their time in aircraft nearly exactly like a Citabria.

cause is still unknown.

I am leaving to go Backpack up to my crashed airplane, im not sure if the FS or Insurance is getting it out of where it is. it is pretty far back there.

I will write more when i get back.

If you pray, pray for Dave and Heather.

Sorry to hear about your friends Matt. I met Heather a few times last year, but I didn't really know her. There's been a lot of bad luck these last 7-8 months losing friends all over the place. Who's next? But I never will forget a certain day last year, am happy it happened over a country road instead of the mountains we flew over a 1/2 hour prior and believe it or not, I'm actually kind of glad I got to experience it. Spice in our lives is good for our souls.

Hope you're healing well ... take care ...

Calvin,

You have just been dealing with a lot of shit lately. I wish there was something we could all do to get you beyond this valley that you have found. It must be hard to deal with...

I wish you and yours the best and if there is ever anything I can do please feel free to ask. My heart goes out to you.

Tony

Condolencses Matt,

I live right up by there and there has been an eeire silence in the hills the past couple of nights. I know you have been trudging through a boatload of life right now and wish you and yours the best. The brightside, and unfortunately ;-) there always is one, is that we all realize the importance of each other a bit more when we lose our companions.

Fly free Heather and Dave, fly free indeed.
