Would you burn it too?
Not unless your rigger tells you too....... if its airworthy then he or she will be able to tell you.....

They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
QuoteHow many of your 2700 jumps were on the same Vector I?
I am still jumping a 1986 vintage Vector I, mind you, it spent most of its life as a closet queen, Before returning it to service, I installed a Vector II reserve pilotchute, a Spandex BOC and a bridle cover. At the last repack I updated both main and reserve pin covers to Vector II standards.
One of my best friends down in Alabama still has my old Vector I and still uses it as his primary rig. It's in great shape, he replaces the velcro when needed, and just can't quantify buying a new container at the frequency he gets to jump. There is nothing wrong with older equipment so long as it is properly maintained.

I have an old 89 vector2 that I keep around just for crew. But it works for bird-man too! I just try not to freefly in it.
I put 250 jumps in 2001 on my 81 vector!! I'm proud of it, it's two years older than I am. I learned to freefly on it, but it was hard to progress at head-down with the risers flopping at my elbows. (this would not have been a problem if I replaced the velcro as often as I should of.) It was great for RW, but not freeflying so I had to get a new rig.
It's still in my closet and once I have some extra cash and a cross-braced canopy it will then be my pond-swooping rig. A few years off still.. but its a fine rig that will be jumped again!
I think jumping older rigs is fine, just make sure that flaps stay closed, that the proper mods are done and keep up with the maintenance!

Thanks to everyone for the ideas. It may end up a water rig. I'll let my rigger tell me what's best.
Oh, I put about 1000 jumps on it, but I bought it used in 1994.
