ldpace 0 #1 March 9, 2004 What is the difference between a student and an expert cypress. I realize it has something to do with altitudes and rates of fall. When you are just getting your A license which one do you need?
quade 4 #2 March 9, 2004 If you're buying one for a rig that YOU are going to OWN, then buy the "expert" one.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
dubbayab 0 #3 March 9, 2004 Expert cypress alt. is 750 ft. Tandems, and students are set for a higher alt cuts.So unless your planning to dump higher than 2500 on every jump, you will probably have a 2 out situation.
ldpace 0 #4 March 9, 2004 This is for a rig that I will own. But, yes I plan to dump above 2500 for a long time. I think I get the message though. I will buy the expert.
sunshine 2 #5 March 9, 2004 QuoteExpert cypress alt. is 750 ft. Tandems, and students are set for a higher alt cuts The student cypres also fires at 750ft. It's the rate of desent that is different between a student and expert, but they will both fire at 750. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug! diablopilot 2 #6 March 9, 2004 The Experienced Cypres is designed to fire at aproximately 750 ft AGL at a speed of aproximately 78 mph or higher. The Student Cypres is designes to fire at aproximately 750 ft AGL at a speed of aproximately 78 mph or higher AND at aproximately 1000 ft AGL at a speed of aproximately 29 mph. Please note the the altitudes are based on a flat and relitivly stable belly to earth body position. Activation altitudes can be higher if you are on your back or present the device to a high(er) pressure area. I have know "experienced" jumpers who have used the "Studen" unit for some time. You must remember it's parameters if you are going to use it just as you must remember those of the expert unit.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. gerrcoin 0 #7 March 9, 2004 Plus with the student Cypres you've got to watch what you're doing under canopy below 1500'. Dramatic spiralling could cause a reserve deployment.
dragon2 2 #8 March 9, 2004 At the world championships last year in France, Gap, AAD's were mandatory for everybody. One of our Accuracy guys has a student cypres in his rig. They wouldn't let him jump at first, but he said: What, I'm going to get it to fire with THIS canopy ?! Well I suppose he could tho; seen some accuracy guys come down real quick, hanging mostly upside down in the harness or something BTW this is an area where the Vigil is pretty good in of course, since there is only one model. If you ever end up with an old student rig like this guy, you'll be glad ciel bleu, Saskia
