BoostedXT 0 #1 March 26, 2004 I THINK I have made a choice when it comes to what I am buying for gear. At first I was thinkingnew container, and used everything else. Well I have come across an awesome deal for all new. its like $550 or so more for all new, over the used rig I was looking at. What do you think of these choices? -Infinity with stainless and articulated. -Spectre 230 Main -Aerodyne 220 Smart Reserve -Awesome deal on a Cypres. Am I obsess because I already designed it? Or am I dumb? Joe PS- Yeah my jumpsuit was done cheesie just to get an idea. For long as you live and high you fly and smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry and all that you touch and all that you see is all your life will ever be. BoostedXT 0 #3 March 26, 2004 So......does that mean you think my choices stink? Its a bunny and it says..."I have no idea what you are talking about. So here is a bunny with a pancake on its head." FrogNog 1 #5 March 26, 2004 $550 more for a new main and new, fitted rig is a small difference in price for a large difference in feel. It makes me think the used deal wasn't all that cheap. Not saying that's a bad thing - it just sounds like you have a decent budget. I paid quite a bit more for new harness and main over used, and I have been very happy. My rig is gorgeous, it fits super, and the I still have that "new main canopy" smell. (The reserve has been used once, I unpacked it and saw no blood, so it must work OK .) -=-=-=-=- Pull. sundevil777 102 #6 March 26, 2004 I think you know what you want and should stick with it. White on the reserve side flaps looks good.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
rjf98 0 #7 March 26, 2004 Honest opinion... great gear. But for your first set... save the 550 and use it for jumps and coach jumps in the discipline you choose. Two choices early on unless you have unlimited funds (which you probably don't have since you are concerned about 550) Look good or fly good. I have been in the sport for about 6 years now, and I just (mid last year) bought my first new rig. I do however have an AFF and now a tandem rating. I think it is partly due to me wanting to fly better than I looked. Personal opinion. Milage may vary.
wandrer 0 #8 March 26, 2004 i have found the same thing concerning prices i am buying all new now but i am at the canopy size i feel i will stay at at least within one size but if you plan to downsize alot remember your cont. will not properly hold a considerably smaller canopy. i like the design of both. What jumpsuit company are you ordering from. blue skies Grab the Grass it's the Bounce that KillsWithout Adventure What Is Life?????

If you are on a budget I'd say buy used - and you should be able to save more than 550 over new unless the stuff has very very low jumps. If I were doing it again, I'd buy a container that fits perfect and buy everything else separately if needed - that way you get exactly what you want. Your choice, but don't buy a Smart just to save a couple bucks, the PD reserves have a very proven record but it is YOUR choice and the Smart has been tested and proven safe. Nice color choices. The reason why I decided on the smart was because I read all of the reviews on here in Gear, and then I talked to the manufacturer, and read on their site. I really like everything I have heard about that reserve. Scotchguard it is!
