I work offshore ( Gulf of Mexico) on an oilrig. We work 12 hrs a day ( sometimes more) and then fly back to land to spend 2 weeks @ home. Its the same cycle over & over. You get enough overtime in the 2 weeks offshore to make up for the 2 unworked weeks! Everything is free on the rig ( food, room etc.) We eat steak twice a week and seafood once a week! The time off is nice but kinda rough if you have a family, ( i have a wife and 3 mean rug-rats lol!) Although i get to spend more time with my family than most men who work at home, i sometimes miss important events ( Christmas, B-days, etc). Gotta go.

I'm in the Gulf of Mexico. You would be suprised how many "MISSISSIPPI DUDES" work offshore. Friede Goldmann Offshore ( i think the name has changed though) located in Pascagoula MS. used to repair and build new oilrigs ( i have seen as many as 10 oilrigs being built or repaired in Pascagoula). And you thought we were just a bunch of hill-billys;) lol. Be cool
