CalFreefall 0 #1 July 29, 2003 Hi all, I have been lurking here for a couple weeks waiting for my first jump before I posted. I did my AFF-1 out of Taft, CA yesterday and loved it. I'll setup my AFF-2 as soon as I can get the off my face.

CalFreefall 0 #3 July 29, 2003 Why wait? I waited until I actually did it. I didn’t want to boast and then cower when it came down to it. I didn’t think I would but you never know. I have thought about this for a long time. I really got interested when Angela - SkyDiveNFlorida started posting in another forum about her plans to go Sky Diving. It peaked my interest and I looked further into it. I wanted to go the AFF route and am glad I did. I am still riding the high and am ready to do it again. My AFF-1 wasn’t perfect but it was good enough to get me to Level 2. My climb out and release were textbook, my Free Fall was not perfect as I envisioned, Legs on butt, couldn’t read Alt until 6K, missed Practice RC Pulls, Pulled RC at 5K Canopy control and landing were great. I just started this great sport one day ago so I go back and forth on how soon to do my next jump. One week or two.

I just finished AFF7 this past weekend, let me tell you, there is no reason to wait, it just keeps gettin' better!! Get back there to do your Level 2 soon. I heard if you do them pretty close to one another it makes it easier on you. I can tell you that I find the first jump of the day to be the hardest. Actually failed level 3, it was my first of the day... but got right up there and repeated it, then did 4, then on Sunday 5, 6 & 7 were intimidating to the eye, but once up there, I just took things one step at a time and did a perfect dive... even stood up on that landing (I suck at landing, lol!). So glad you did it! Welcome to the forum, too. Happy reefing and happy diving!! :D Angela. Unfortunately I let myself get a little too dehydrated Sunday and will need a few days to recover. I didn’t eat all day Sunday before the jump and while I did drink a lot of water and ice tea the 102-degree temp all day combined with the excitement of the jump caught up with me by Monday. I will take this weekend off and will go with AFF 2 and possibly AFF 3 the next weekend. In the mean time I am thinking of my next jump about every 5 minutes. I have watched the video of my jump over and over to see what I did wrong and right. I think I will be more relaxed on my next one since I now know what to expect in FF. Angela, Thanks for you enthusiasm to push my buttons and get me go for it. I’m glad I did. Good luck on your Hop & Pop. I’m sure you will do well. Katiebear21, It’s still there. Also, sleeping and eating well is very difficult to do when going through AFF. Angela is amazing to be so full of energy and to be able to go through AFF so quickly. This is quite unusual, so do not feel like you have to do the same. The emotional, physical and mental stimulation that you are feeling is overwhelming, especially if you are at all analytical and a perfectionist (like me). Congratulations on your introduction to this new world.
 SkydiveNFlorida 0 #18 July 31, 2003 Thanks, Chris!! I can't wait. It should be relatively easy... hop, then pop, haha! But, then... i'm no landing artist Awe, that's so sweet of you to say, Rosa!!! It is quite nerve-racking thinking about all the things to do to pass a level, I can certainly see how it could be overwhelming. Combine that with no food, and you're probably lucky to be conscious! On my first 2 days, I ate every other hour, lol!! The second weekend I just ate before and after, had to get a lot of jumps in... I was starving at the end. I thought it was hot here in FL, ... boy, 102, that's crazy! Good luck and keep us updated! I'm sure you'll do great! Angela.
 FrenchyDiver 0 #19 July 31, 2003 Yes it can be a lot to digest. But it can be easily dealt with. Repeat all your actions while on the ground, clear your mind of every thing else, and go through your jump as if you were on the air. Step by step. from the moment you are about to exit the aircraft, til after the pull out. Do it many times, concentrate on the exercise. Then, enjoy your jump as usualJM Hispas Brothers President HISPA #2,
 b1jercat 0 #20 August 1, 2003 Rock on dude, there is no shortage of advice on the forums. good luck! blue skies jerry
 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
