Jarcie 0 #1 December 22, 2003 Hi, I'm Jennifer, and I'm new to skydiving... I did my first jump (a tandem) in October, and two weeks later started AFF. I'm now on level 5. I spent the last two weeks deciding whether or not I would stick with it, but skydiving is what I think about most of the time now, so here goes... Anyway, I've been lurking for a while, and Sangiro's announcement about the new database made me think it was time to register. I've really enjoyed reading this site, and I look forward to getting to know some of you. Happy holidays, and thanks for reading this! Jennifer

Jarcie 0 #4 December 22, 2003 Thanks, guys! Yeah, I've been pretty nervous. I was starting to get it under control, and then I messed up and really scared myself. So I was trying to figure out if I have what it takes to learn to do this, or if I was just wrong to think I could. I've asked, and my instructors told me they'd tell me if they thought I shouldn't be doing it, but I had to do a little soul searching, too. That's the long version... It definitely helps to hear that other people have felt this way, too. The nerves, anyway. On a more positive note, in less than twelve hours I'll be on a plane out of which I have no intention of jumping, on my way to share some holiday cheer with family and friends... Best wishes, Jennifer
sdgregory 0 #5 December 22, 2003 Enjoy your holiday with your family. Nerves is normal. I always new I wanted to do this ever since I was 5. But to be honest I get nervous until I hear the lovely word DOOR and then my nerves go and the excitement peaks. Remember that we have a fight or flight reflex and that it is designed to protect us from harm and skydiving is deliberately putting yourself in harms way for a thrill. The more I jump the less I feel the nerves. As far as having what it takes someone told me it is not about being good at skydiving as much as it is about sucking less with each successive jump. You have what it takes if your intructors have not told you to take up basket weaving . . . edited for spelling

I'm in Indiana so my season is over for now, gotta wait until spring. I'm suppose to do Level 4 AFF jump next. Probably need to repeat a few things to get the feel back. My jumps have gone well so far, need to keep that going for me.
