RyanLikesToFall 0 #1 January 19, 2004 First jump ever, and all I can say is WOW. I loved all 35 seconds of it! I love it, and can't wait to do it again! I was nervous at first, but now that I've done it I can't think of anything I want to do more... It's just depressing how expensive it is. I'm a senior in HS right now, and I doubt I'll be getting my own rig very quickly. Better start saving!
AggieDave 6 #2 January 19, 2004 You suck! Why? Because you're jumping at 18yrs old! I'm so mad that I didn't start when I was 18 and I only started when I was 20. There are a lot more jumpers a "bit" older then I that say the same thing. Look at it this way, you'll continue to jump, you will get your gear, it may take time, but I bet you do it. Learn to pack and become a packer. You *can* make some phat cash that way, enough to pay for gear and such. Hell, I made enough money packing at the AOT boogie 2 years ago to buy a reserve, and that was one weekend!--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." skyyhi 0 #6 January 19, 2004 Congrats and welcome to the forum. . .yeah, AFF 1 was my first jump too. . .back in November, HOWEVER, like AggieDave said, I wish I had done this sooner in life. . .I am 42 so I have reason to complain that I didn't start sooner. Congrats on the jump. . .________________________________________ Take risks not to escape life… but to prevent life from escaping. ~ A bumper sticker at the DZ FGF #6 Darcy
Shari 0 #7 January 19, 2004 All of ya'll suck!! I turned 40 and threw myself out of a plane...thinking this is it...no wrinkles for me...do or die thing. Now, I just can't wait to go again. Gladewater, Texas????Its a small world, I know some people from there!!!!

Gladewater, Texas????Its a small world, I know some people from there!!!! Yeah! What she said! You all suck. (except for the 40+ crew) I'm also 40. I'm up to 74 jumps though and I'm in better physical shape than most folks in their 20's
RyanLikesToFall 0 #9 January 20, 2004 Yeah, I'm very thankful that I was able to jump so early! I can't wait to do my second jump, but it got really cold over here. Not sure if the weather will be up to it. That's a good idea about becoming a packer, but the gladewater DZ isn't that big. We only have two cessna 182s, and most of the people I saw packed their own gear, so I dunno. I'll learn how anyway though. Thanks for the welcome! Oh, where are you giong to go to college? You know there's a kickass DZ about 5 minutes from A&M's campus.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
 RyanLikesToFall 0 #12 January 21, 2004 I doubt I'll be taking any classes at A&M, but gladewater is only around 30 minutes away from Tyler, and they have a University of Texas campus, and the Tyler Junior College, which are both really great schools. I plan on only taking a few classes the first and second semesters at TJC. I want to ease into life on my own, and don't want to overload myself with work AND school. I'm in no big hurry.
