First AFF JUMP

Recommended Posts

First jump ever, and all I can say is WOW. I loved all 35 seconds of it! I love it, and can't wait to do it again! I was nervous at first, but now that I've done it I can't think of anything I want to do more...

It's just depressing how expensive it is. I'm a senior in HS right now, and I doubt I'll be getting my own rig very quickly. Better start saving!

You suck! Why? Because you're jumping at 18yrs old! :P I'm so mad that I didn't start when I was 18 and I only started when I was 20. There are a lot more jumpers a "bit" older then I that say the same thing.

Look at it this way, you'll continue to jump, you will get your gear, it may take time, but I bet you do it.

Learn to pack and become a packer. You *can* make some phat cash that way, enough to pay for gear and such. Hell, I made enough money packing at the AOT boogie 2 years ago to buy a reserve, and that was one weekend!B|

Congrats and welcome to the forum. . .yeah, AFF 1 was my first jump too. . .back in November, HOWEVER, like AggieDave said, I wish I had done this sooner in life. . .I am 42 so I have reason to complain that I didn't start sooner.

Congrats on the jump. . .

Yeah! What she said! You all suck. (except for the 40+ crew) B|
I'm also 40.
I'm up to 74 jumps though and I'm in better physical shape than most folks in their 20's B|

Yeah, I'm very thankful that I was able to jump so early! I can't wait to do my second jump, but it got really cold over here. Not sure if the weather will be up to it.

That's a good idea about becoming a packer, but the gladewater DZ isn't that big. We only have two cessna 182s, and most of the people I saw packed their own gear, so I dunno. I'll learn how anyway though. Thanks for the welcome!:)

Then see what else you can do to make money at the DZ...see if you can make some $$$ washing the planes every week, sweeping the packing area out, working manifest, anything!

Oh, where are you giong to go to college? You know there's a kickass DZ about 5 minutes from A&M's campus.;)

I doubt I'll be taking any classes at A&M, but gladewater is only around 30 minutes away from Tyler, and they have a University of Texas campus, and the Tyler Junior College, which are both really great schools.

I plan on only taking a few classes the first and second semesters at TJC. I want to ease into life on my own, and don't want to overload myself with work AND school. I'm in no big hurry.

Money is always tight when it comes to skydiving. If your folks or other Christmas/birthday buying kind of relatives aren't too sure about this skydiving thing, here is a suggestion:

Explain to them what an AAD is and how it can save your life. Then tell them, any Christmas, birthday, graduation money gifts you receive will go toward the purchase of an AAD. Something that will be used for many years and can save their son's life each and every time.......... I think you get the idea! Good luck

Hey! So I guess I´m a lucky one, because I started skydiving almost right away after I turned fifteen. I also got the certificate of competence parachuting age of fifteen ;) Now I´m starting my third season and I don´t see the end to skydiving
Kerran kun sen aloittaa ja jos se kolahtaa, on turhaa yrittää unohtaa..
If you are skydiver, you should know what this mean..
