First AFF Jump

Recommended Posts

Hi,
I'm going through ground school and taking my first AFF jump Monday. I've read that it's customary to take beer after AFF. Is this after AFF graduation or after your first jump?
I'm really looking forward to this. I've wanted to do it for so long, I just got around to actually going out and making the decision.
Thanks.

I personally would wait till after your AFF grad, HOWEVER, there are many on here who would argue that you used the word FIRST so you automatically owe BEER. . .

Welcome to the boards and enjoy your first AFF skydive. . .It is a sensory overload but just do what your instructors tell you to do and you will be GREAT. . .

I'm a newbie to the sport too however I've never tried anything like this ever! At my dz, whenever you have a first you are to buy beer - however when we are students, seems EVERY jump is a first for something! Good luck in your new sport!

I would drink one of your beers to celebrate your first jump. Buy a case and everyone will know you're the new student and hopefully welcome you with tales of skygod BS and other good advice. Just be sure not to believe everything you hear while under the influence!!;)

Then on First Solo,
AFF graduation,
A License

buy another case each time. (skydiving is NOT an inexpensive sport, and a few cases won't set you back more than a coach jump with video)

They will have followed your successful progression with memories of nice buzzes that you contributed, and by then will have many of them ready to take you up for your first attempts at group play..

Have Fun!
PS You DID read that Wm Gibson book, I assume?

Of course, I've read the book, a couple of times. I'm impressed, you're the only person who's ever mentioned it and I use this name on at least three other forums.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

When I did AFF, it was after pretty much every jump - they all involve some sort of first...:S

Of course that could just be because we're british and like our beer...!!!B|:D:P

I have just started that book - so I guess you would say it is worth continuing then?!
