deaflamb 0 #1 February 17, 2004 Thought I would say hi and tell a bit about myself. Umm, lets see. I'm 20 years old and a Biology Student at University of Southern Maine. I like all things outdoors. I have jumped twice both tandem. My first jump was just testing it out. My second jump was part of the AFF program but due to a wet spring last year and lack of funds I only made it through the one jump. This winter and springl I'm planning to loose a crap load of weight (any sugestions) so I can go through the student program again this summer and work on getting an A license. I'll be working at NOC (Nantahala Outdoor Center) in NC about 87 miles from Skydive Smokey Mountains which is where I plan to get my training. Anyone from the area, or frequent that drop zone? Well sorry for making this so long. I loved my frist two jumps and it is something I think about everyday. It is inspring me to finially get my plump ass into shape ( being 6' 3'' and overweight for my height really puts me over the 220 mark for skydiving, so I got my work cut out) Thanks for reading. skymama 37 #2 February 17, 2004 Welcome to the forums! You have a great place to work at with the NOC. My family has used that outfit twice for rafting trips and we've been pleased with the staff and service both times. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

EdC 0 #7 February 21, 2004 Welcome to the forums. As for weight loss, I lost about 100 lbs. doing the Atkins thing. The first two weeks suck on the Atkins diet, but you get used to it. There are books out there about the low carb diets, but you could always do the half diet, only eat half of what you normally would. Also, some exercise would help and most colleges have facilities that are free for students to use so you don't have to pay for a gym membership. Good luck and keep us updated on your progress.
