jayzoid 0 #1 May 5, 2004 Well I had to face my fears on my birthday this April 2nd and jump out of a plane tandem style! Very cool, but I couldn't stop there as the experience just wasn't complete unless I did it myself. So a week later I showed up early in the morning for my ground training for AFF; after an hour of waiting for the instructor to show (he had car problems) I had too much time to think and wrote a note saying that this sport wasn't for me as I was scared. Got in my truck and went to leave just when he showed, so I went back in. Now it's just a few weeks later and I just completed my level 6 and I can't stop smiling; I can't stop thinking and dreaming about this sport!! This is all I wanna do! Am I going to be forever consumed with wanting to fly in the sky?? Bar none this is the best thing I've ever done! Does anyone else feel this way? skymama 37 #2 May 5, 2004 Welcome to the forums! QuoteAm I going to be forever consumed with wanting to fly in the sky?? Bar none this is the best thing I've ever done! Does anyone else feel this way? Pretty much the answer is yes and yes! I'm all about balance in life and trying new things as well as skydiving. But, there's nothing like a jump to clear your head, boost your spirits or give you such an adrenaline rush that you feel like you're walking on air. It and the people who surround you in the sport will change your life and the way you look at things. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
nael 0 #3 May 5, 2004 I know exactly how you feel! I did AFF7 yesterday, and failed it unfortunately, but it was my favourite jump yet! I went into 3 front layouts just after exit which was so much fun, when I pulled out of it I turned around and found my JM and just laughed, she was laughing too. My Backflips were awesome, but tracking proved to be too much for my mind to think of at that point. It was my first exit from a cessna too (we usually use a skyvan). As soon as I landed I went to manifest to try to get on another load (because I am usually at the dz on weekends and they dont use the cessna on weekends, and I wanted to get another jump from it straight away!), but they werent putting anymore loads up. I had lunch with one of the experienced guys after it, and he was laughing at me because I'm so hooked. He said I remind him of how he was when he first started skydiving. Sitting in the car I just said "ugh...... 4 whole days until my next jump". He just laughed. Good luck with it, I'm sure theres plenty more fun to come (I cant wait for be finished with AFF!). I've realised now that I'm not going to have any money for a very long time, and the funny thing is, I wouldnt have it any other way right now. This is definately the best thing I have ever been a part of!www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store

adrenalinejunki 0 #5 May 6, 2004 I think we are all eat up with the bug myself or we would'nt be spending all this time on this forum to try to tide us over until the next trip to the drop zone. There is nothing like being around skydivers, even on non jump days. Good luck with your A license! __________________________________________________What's the worst that can happen? I was fortunate that I started this sport aka (vice) at 46 yrs old..kids grown up, no mortgage, don't have to mow the lawn, rake, clean gutters. I just go to the DZ on the weekends.
