First timer saying hi

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

My name is Jim, and I completed my first dive last week @ DeLand while visiting Florida. It was a tandem with Nat. I've now decided to go for the AFF - I'm probably going to go to the Blue Sky Ranch in upstate NY.

I'm now trying to digest as much info as possible about the sport before continuing with my jumps in the next few weeks. This website is a great resource!

Unfortunately, I did not get a logbook when I made my jump - didn't even know about them at the time. I'm going to try and get in touch with Nat and see if I can purchase a logbook from DeLand, have him sign it, and ship it up to me in NY.

Look forward to posting!

Welcome to the forums! :)

I think most people just get the tandem certificates on their first jumps. Most that I know don't buy a logbook unless they are going to use the tandem as part of the IAF program, where you do tandems as part of your progression. If you're doing AFF, I don't think you really need to have that tandem in there unless it's just really important to you.

Welcome to the forums! Read up on all the info you can stand here, but remember to listen to what your instructor says when the time comes, not anything you picked up from a bunch of people you don't know on the internet. That being said there is alot if useful information to be found here.

Welcome! Yup, this site is a great place to feed your skydiving bug. :)
I got a logbook on my 1st tandem jump. But my DZ has a program that requires 2 tandems beforehand, so those were training jumps for me. I would definitely get in touch with the DZ where you jumped and see if they can get you a book. I would guess that you need an actual logbook, not just the certificate. (The logbook has the type of equipment used, ff time, pull alti, etc for each jump so it's a lot more info than just the certificate.) (But I could be wrong)

Good luck! I hope you can get credit for that jump!
