soignet 0 #1 September 8, 2004 I am 26 years old and the first time I jumped was Dec/96 I was 18. It was a Christmas gift from my brother who was a certified skydive (A License Holder) I think. I just got finished with boot camp with the Air Force. I was in ATC School in Keesler AFB, MS and went home for the holidays. When I got home from the drive he and one of his friends were waiting for me in his truck (did not even get a chance to see mom yet). He told me to go with them he had a surprise for me. They drove me to Jeanerette, LA where I saw the sign that said Skydive something. My heart started racing at that point. Did my first jump and loved it what a gift from my brother (well I paid) he didn’t have the money he just wanted me to do it. Well to keep it kind of short I found out when I was in the out skits of Iraq for the war he was killed in a plane crash feb/03 (he was a pilot commercial rating) in a Cessna he rented to go for a ride on his B-day. I was also a pilot (private rating) but lost all interest in going flying for fun. Last year on my brothers B-day my mom wanted to do a tandem in honor of my brother (she new how much he loved it). So I took her to Thibodaux, LA where there is a new drop zone (New Orleans Skydiving Center) so she could make a jump. I even got in touch with the same guy that trained my brother to jump with her (how memorable). So now I am out of the military and am working in Lafayette, LA a 20 min drive from Jeanerette I decided to get certified. I have made 4 jumps in the last 2 weeks and am planning to make 4 more this sat. My brother has given me so much in my life He told me what job to do in the service (the same job I hold as a civilian ATC) which I love. He introduced me to my wife. And he introduced me in to flying (but I was the first to fly planes). And now when I climb out on the strut of the 182 and let go I can feel him smiling. It is the one thing since he died that I can do to feel close to him (he fly's with me). And that is my story sorry it took so long but here are some pics of me and him on my first jump the tattoo I got on my left arm in memory of RJ (my Bro.)And me last week after a PRCP. Hope I did not bore anyone thanks for reading.......Corey

InflightSupv 0 #3 September 9, 2004 I didn't know your brother, but I'm sure he would be proud. Just makes me realize, one again, how we need to treasure each day with our families and loved ones.
