whats up evryone? finally stoped being lazy and registered. well i am working on my a proficiency card. i will be in z-hills next week. hope i have good weather when i am there. well just wanted to say whats up and hope to here some good things about z-hills

Ahh a fellow long Islander... lets just say when I can go on vacation again I am not going to stay up here to finish my AFF I will be going to SD city Zhills... if you want I can email you a pic of TK's butt from my level one jump... unfortunatly I ran out of money when I went down there and was only able to do 2 levels of AFF. I would have finished up here, but couldn't stand the fact that I would have had to do another tandem before doing my level one jump again screw that man. To Z-Hills I will go when we hire some fresh meat here at my job... which should take at least 6 months maybe more.

Lets just say I don't aprove of some of Rays Business practices. You know stuff like signifigant increases (almost double) of the cost of gear rentalin the middle of a seasion. I know that this business costa a lot of money to run. Lets face it Ray makes the bulk of his money on tandems, which a lot of DZs do. However I have seen AFF jumpers and people who have yet to be able to afford gear get screwed by him royaly. As well as his constant practice of nickle and dimeing his regular fun jumpers. The only reasion Ray has the business base he has is because the only other skydiving club on LI is a tandem factory, however if you have a D liscence they may alow you to get on a load. Lets face it Log Island just sucks for people in this sport. As I was saying here the worst part about LI is that if we want to jump elsewhere ie The Ranch, Cross Keys, or one of the DZs in CT it will cost more than to drive there, than it would to jump at SDLI... I am just talking about tolls and gas here. I am lucky because when I get off of student status I can get free ferry rides to CT because of my job, and I will use it... all I need to find is someone who lives on the coast of CT who wants a gas rider.

For people who own businesses that are related to extream sports those people should have more of a duty to the sport than to thier own wallets. A paintball field that I frequent every time the owner gets a little extra money he puts it right back into the field, and it shows. It keeps the players happy when they see this.

If I see his business practices change I may change my opinion about him. However if you noticed I did say that the staff working there was chill, and so are the people who jump there. Also SDLI can't have the fun vibe that a lot of other DZs have just because no one is supposed to stay there overnight. Also if SDLI is such a great place then why did to AFF Instructor trainers bone out on them in the middle of the course.

hey i was'nt trashing sdli. i have a great time when im there. i only started this thread to introduce myself not to trash anyplace or person. i see that broke is not happy with ray and his place thats fine go start a thread about it with your name on it not mine!!! you know sometimes it's not about money if a few extra bucks for something is that big of a deal that you cant enjoy your time there go somewhere else!

Here's the problem with the simple solution of going somewhere else. They are all really really far away... so if you factor travel into going to another DZ you could save money by actually jumping at SDLI. Long Island isn't like FL where many DZs are in a fairly close proximity to one another, and it is a whole lot more economically feasable to take your business elsewhere.

Hey bro that trashing post wasn't dirrected at you. Sorry for hijacking your thread, but I felt the need o defend my stance, however seeing as how the person who made the firt comment never followed up here forget about it. Also with some of the rumors I have been hearing SDLI will get much better, and that's all I will say about that.


Back to the way we were going before:
Z-Hills is a truly awesome place. I hope the weather is cooperative for you while you are there. I was apparently lucky, and was able to jump the same day I did my ground schooling. You will definitally have a smile on your face. I would have danced while I was there, but I am overly caucasion, and no one else would have heard my Ska. People would have probibly looked at me funny. when ordering foor at the hard dock be sure to ask for them to put bacon on whatever sandwich you order... bacon makes everything better. You may however want to skip breakfast. Nothing horrendous but you'll know what I'm talking about if you do... lol.
