Did my tamden at Z-Hills yesterday, and OMG it was the most incredible thing I have EVER done!! Just can't wait to hit the lotto so that I can start and finish my AFF ASAP! PRSKY71 0 #5 February 13, 2006 Skymama: I know what you mean about friends: already driving everyone nuts at the office! Daniel: Sebastian was my tandem master and he made me feel extremely safe and made the whole experience so enjoyable. daniel_owen_uk 0 #6 February 13, 2006 Ahh cool I had sebastian for one of my AFF jumps, infact I think that crazy fool was the first person to ever release me in freefall (on AFF not Tandem ).__________________ BOOM Headshot

dontbounce 0 #8 February 22, 2006 QuoteWelcome to the forums! QuoteBe ready for your friends to get bored with how much you talk about your tandem. They won't be able to relate unless they've done it themselves. Get new friends... Thats what I did... :)
 PRSKY71 0 #9 February 27, 2006 Well, I just booked my Level 1 AFF for March 11th!!!! I am oh so excited!! I'm also about to start AFF, I did two tandems (mostly because I was to poor to start AFF and wanted to go again) and one is certainly all it takes to be addicted. My friends are really tired of hearing about skydiving, I think they're just jealous, which is why I came to the forums. Good luck with your AFF! I'm having thoughts that I'm sure most students have -- such as "what if my main won't open?"; "what if I panic and my reserve does not work?"; "what if I am totally off on my landing?" OMG!!! Is it Saturday yet? I know once I am out there (out of the plane) it will be great but it's just the anticipation and the not really knowing what to expect. Anyway, I just had to vent and wonder if any of the recent/current students have any advise as to dealing with the anxiety? Funny thing is that I can't stop looking at the sky everytime I'm outside and I can actually imagine the excitement!! How wonderful!!! P.S. I registered with skydivingmovies.com and already see some serious AFF mishaps!! I started in June 2005. You've already done the first thing I'd say, which is to do a tandem first. I started right in with AFF 1 and I wish I'd done a tandem first. Get a good night's sleep the night before your FJC. At least plan your schedule so that you can crawl into bed at a reasonable time, even if you stare at the ceiling for a while. Skipping breakfast is the wrong idea, but so is eating for an hour at an all-you-care-to-eat place. Eat something relatively inert. Listen to your instructors. They will listen to you too - I can almost guarantee you that they've heard the questions that you are too embarrased to ask several times before. So don't be shy. QuoteP.S. I registered with skydivingmovies.com and already see some serious AFF mishaps!! This isn't really going to help your anxiety level. :) I'm sure there are some videos on there of uneventful AFF jumps; you might look at a few of those to see what happens when all goes well - _that_ may reduce your anxiety, I think. One note, though. Your instructors' word should override everything you watch or read on the Internet, read in a book, hear from friends, etc. You might see something done differently in a video and you can certainly ask your instructor about it; he will almost always be able to give you a good explanation of why he is asking you to do it another way. You'll get tired of hearing this, but relax! It took me several jumps to figure out how to do that. If you have to repeat an AFF level or three, it's not a big deal. I looked at two "bad" movies on AFF and definately stopped. As you said, I will look through the others just to give myself a perspective of what goes on up there. And most importantly, I will listen, listen, listen to my instructor. Again, thanks again for your thoughts!!!
