safari1957 0 #4 June 15, 2006 Thanks for the welcome... Mo {monica} is working on her master's degree in Nutrition, and she loved the experience.. however, she isn't sure when she could afford it... she si leaving for Costa Rico for 3 1/2 weeks and has school soon after she gets back. She did tell her boyfriend that he had to come jump with her... Me? I figure I will go back for AFF 1 and take it slow, I am hooked, but got a lot of jitters... Is the 2nd jump any harder than the first? I was told that the next time the brain realizes what is going on and the fear factor is higher... safari1957 0 #5 June 15, 2006 Thanks for the Welcome!! South Africa huh? My daughter attended Rhoades University in Grahamstown SA the spring of her junior year of college. It was a life changing event for her. She loved the country! Anyway.. if you can remember... was the second jump harder than the first? Someone told me that the brain does not have time to register the first time on a tandem jump... but that the second time the brain kicks up the ole "No No No NOOOOO" fear factor. I am saving my pennies for AFF level 1 and the jitters get me even with my feet right on the ground! Thoughts? jwilkinson 0 #6 June 15, 2006 I did two tandems within a few hours of each other. If you got out the door the first time then you will do fine. I am also about to start my aff coarse, cant wait, just remember all the one liners on the way up from the instructors are to keep us newbies from freakin out before we go crashing towards the ground. Well. you do kind of get sensory overload going on when you first jump. On the second jump, you do know more of what to expect. Each person processes it differently though so their reactions aren't going to be the same. I was pretty much scared until I got my A license, (and some jumps are still more frightening than others!), so maybe I'm not a good one to ask. My first AFF jump was even easier than that because id done the drills to death and felt fairly confident with two instructors hanging onto me. My AFF jumps after that have been less than perfect, in fact my last i had some bad spins which freaked me out. As a result im sh*tting it over the next jump . But nerves are a good thing, they keep me thinking, and help me reaction when things dont go as sweet as they should. Plus its the whole fear/adrenaline love/hate thing with skydiving that i love and keeps me coming back, no matter how nervous i am!
