I WILL jump in the cold!!

Recommended Posts

Rock on Erika!
It is funny how working outside in 40 degrees F seems like it is so cold, but jumping out of an airplane at -5 degrees F at altitude is OK! Welcome to skydiving and the forums, it's about the only sport that is this much fun at any temperature! :)Blue Skies, Safe Landings-

Welcome... my coldest skydive was 22F on the ground. My coldest military S/L jump was north of the Arctic Circle and it was -30F on the ground. Myself and another Jumpmaster were verbally wrestling for JM priviledges to claim the title of JM North of the Arctic Circle... :S I'm glad I lost that one.

They were challenging when I was in my 20's and I have fond memories of those jumps and surrounding events. Kicking 50 in the ass, I'll hang with around 30F at altitiude, but below that, my ass is heading for a hot toddy. :D

Keep us posted and have fun.
Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

i made my last jump when it was 50 (farenheit) on the ground and below freezing at altitude. i didn't have any problem during freefall - likely because of all that adreneline pumping through my body! - but descending under canopy were 5 of the longest minutes i've ever experienced! even with gloves, by the time i landed, my fingers hurt so badly i had to promise myself i wouldn't jump again around here until the spring. i do suffer from reynauds, though, so the cold tends to affect me more than most people.

i'm jealous of those of you who can jump in the cold!
