Grape 0 #1 January 23, 2007 hello all, I'm Grape and I'm new to dropzone.com. I just want to introduce myself and say hi. I have 35 jumps so far and I'm only a hop and pop away from my A liscence but this crappy snow in Michigan is keeping me grounded for now. How do skydivers up north deal with winter?!?!?! i'm going crazy! Skydiving is to me what crack is to a whore. I NEED MY FIX BITCH!

How do skydivers up north deal with winter?!?!?! i'm going crazy! I went down to florida and jumped at deland and z-hills. weathered out for some of it, but it was nice to get away from the snow. Tunnel time is great if you have a tunnel close to you - i don't but did some time last year before i started jumping. I hate winters here as well - interfers with my jumping too muchDPH # 2 "I am not sure what you are suppose to do with that, but I don't think it is suppose to flop around like that." ~Skootz~ I have a strong regard for the rules.......doc! AllisonH 0 #3 January 24, 2007 I also jump in Michigan, and we either suck it up and get really really cold (not me!), or we travel to warmer places to jump. Last month a bunch of Michigan jumpers went to the Orlando area for jumping in 75+ degree weather, and next month we're going to Arizona.
Grape 0 #4 January 24, 2007 i know about the whole "going south" thing, i did it my first year of skydiving and lived in z-hills for a few months. i LOVE that place and i want to eventually live there again but it's all comes down to financial issues. Where the hell do you guys get the money for all of this?!?!?! I have the 9-5 job and all but it doesnt cover the cost of gear and what not. am i suposed to just max out credit cards or become a skanky stripper? i dont think i have the intimidation factor to become a drug lord or the drugs. i'm more than willing to fuck over my credit for this sport, but i'd rather not. any advice???Skydiving is to me what crack is to a whore. Learn to pack....take your time .... take it in stride. It will all work out. You could try to help with manifest at the DZ as well. Talk to the Dz...they may have things for you to do to help finance your jumping.DPH # 2 "I am not sure what you are suppose to do with that, but I don't think it is suppose to flop around like that." ~Skootz~ I have a strong regard for the rules.......doc! skymama 37 #7 January 24, 2007 Welcome to the forums! Quotei'm more than willing to fuck over my credit for this sport, but i'd rather not. any advice??? I got a second job at night and some weekends in retail to pay cash for my gear. Now is the perfect time for you to do that since you can't jump on the weekends anyway. Yeah, it makes life tough for a few months but it's better than maxing out your credit or becoming a stripper! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

SkyChimp 0 #13 January 27, 2007 Sorry to hear about your garbage weather. As a skydiver, plan to be a Florida snowbird and spend a couple of months down here. Deland is nice!!! Does anyone else find it funny that we made a SPORT out of an EMERGENCY PROCEDURE?!?!
