silkrose233 0 #1 March 29, 2007 Hi everyone! I'm Anita, a new AFF student with nothing more on my mind then my next jump! I'm doing my level 3 jump this Saturday at Skydive Houston, where I've been taking my classes. If I didn’t have 3 kids I would have probably already had my license, but hey, I can do it at my own financial pace. Anyway, I’ve never found anything that I loved to do as much as I love skydiving, so I was hoping to make some friends with the same love for the sport that I have ; people to teach me, people to share experiences with me and maybe even people to help me find good deals on getting my own gear. Hope to hear from some of you soon! Anita ~*~Anita~*~
skymama 37 #2 March 29, 2007 Welcome to the forums! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
silkrose233 0 #3 March 29, 2007 There is another mama out there who loves to fly! I haven't met any who had small children like mine until now, so it is a pleasure! There are some very dedicated people who took the Level 1 class with me who are now on Level 20, and like you said I wish I could do that. Then I come to my senses and realize that I'm just grateful to be moving through at my own pace.. Like you, I wouldnt trade those soccer games for the world! So, where are you from? How long have you been jumping? ~*~Anita~*~
skymama 37 #4 March 29, 2007 Well, my kids are 16 and 18, so they are not that young. I just totally relate to spending the money on caring for them and not having time to jump very much. I did my first tandem in 2000 and live in FL. If you check out the Women's Forum, you'll find a lot of threads showing that we have quite a few moms on here. sharimcm 0 #5 March 30, 2007 Hey there Anita! There are many moms on dz.com. A very good friend of mine, skydivermom (Kathleen) has two young boys. I don't have any kiddos of my own, but I love to 'borrow' kids when I can. We currently jump at Skydive Temple, close to Austin, but there are certain times Kathleen will make it to Houston. I may meet you one day! Good luck to you! Blue Skies!! silkrose233 0 #6 April 3, 2007 Heck yeah! I'd love to have some friends in the sport. I've met some GREAT people at Skydive Houston, but most are instructors who are usually to busy to talk much. So, once I get my license maybe I can drive out that way and check out a new dz. I'm ready to visit others and jump all over the country. Once I get a chance I'll post on the womens site and hopefully meet some more moms. Thanks for saying HI! Hope to talk to you again soon!! I attached the only picture I have here at work of me and my 3 kids!! ~*~Anita~*~

Hang around at sunset on a Saturday night. That's when everyone socializes for hours over a few beers, sits around the campfire, and sometimes cooks up a free dinner, etc. That's when you really get to know people. - John Rich
