Melissa76 0 #1 June 29, 2007 Hi Everyone, After 4 tandems I'm finally ready to sign up for my first AFF jump. I'm probably atypical in terms of my level of fear - it takes me about a minute to catch my breath after the chute opens! Anyhow, my main anxiety with this jump is flying my own parachute - I'm sure I'll learn about it in ground school and probably be fine but any pointers and/or reassurances would be nice. I guess I'm not as worried about freefall as there will be two people hanging on. Thanks for all responses!

Ashkit 0 #3 July 1, 2007 Hi Mellissa I am only a few jumps ahead of you, I just completed my 16th jump yesterday! I got signed off of AFF on 15 and 16 was my first solo from plane to ground! Whew, that's anxiety.... But rest assured it gets easier each time, When I did good, I'd have less anxiety the next jump, and so on.. I just started landing off radio and have not stood up yet on it.. I either flare too quick or too late, I've been sliding in, thats been easier then the roll on my body... Well, just keep on going and it gets easier, you can only get experience by doing it yourself! God Bless!Whether you think you can or can't either way you're right! rygon 0 #4 July 1, 2007 ive only done 4 jumps. Didnt know what to expect with the 1st as i had never jumped before. Just remember if you are struggling to stay upright just arch (meaning shove your hips out not just your back) and you will be fine. All you have to do is remember the signals, 3 practice pulls (and one real one) and you will be fine. When you jump remember to keep the arch and straighten your legs much more than you think is needed. Have fun
