slappy1 0 #1 September 4, 2007 first and foremost, i would like to say how refreshing it is to be on another forum. i have been on a site(s) for nearly 4 years now, comprised of college students and alumni from around the country. i am sad to say that i have an addiction. but i've also made many great friends, including my best friend (i know, right) on there. anyhew. i had my first jump this weekend at a boogie in richmond, IN. not only was the actual skydiving experience effing amazing, but hanging out w/ all those awesome people was thrilling. i had brought my taser, and we spent a better part of sunday morning (after a looong night of partying) tasing each other (and myself, apparently). so, in conclusion, HAY GUYZ! WHATS GOING ON IN THIS INTaRNETS?? :P
skymama 37 #2 September 4, 2007 Welcome to the forums! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
slappy1 0 #3 September 4, 2007 definitely! everyone i know in "the industry", and the people i met there, said i was the perfect candidate to become addicted to the sport. i am seriously considering getting my license. i realize what a huge financial commitment this is, and that is the main thing i am concerned about. i'm almost overwhelmed at the prospect of this whole thing, but at the same time still have that adrenaline running through me. they said that can last for almost a week, so maybe i should wait to think about this until then. i am just so stoked about the idea of possibly finding "my thing"...since graduating college last year, i have been just kind of drifting along. airkid 0 #4 September 4, 2007 it is a financial commitment but if it is something you enjoy.... why the hell not? skydiving is a lifestyle... and it is awesome... oh and why are you dressed as a ninja???
slappy1 0 #5 September 4, 2007 i was in san fran and the only person not bundled up in "chilling" 60-degree weather. so, some dude gave me his awesome hat to keep me warm. the only problem was getting the beer down. but that's what IVs are for, AMIRITE
airkid 0 #6 September 4, 2007 wow... i just checked your prof. ohio huh? i spent a couple days in toledo... it's cold up there... you shouldn't have had a problem with the chilly norcal weather...
slappy1 0 #7 September 4, 2007 nah son, it wasn't me with the problem. they insisted i put it on. they all had coats and whatnot on, INSIDE the bar. it was quite ridiculous. and yeah, i'm used to the insane midwest weather. it snowed in april here, then a week later was mid-70s. eeek! i just talked to my friend who said he can be my coach after my first 8 jumps. i am so effing excited. birdshit 0 #8 September 6, 2007 welcome to skydiving. Skymama, she has been in the sky, she will never be able to look at it the same way again. Of course she will jump again. Doesn't everybody? I don't understand how there aren't like 250 million people in this sport. Don't worry. I been doing some research, and liquor store employees are trained to do whatever you ask when you are wearing a ski mask. Little old ladies at the ATM arent so tough either, and you can get all four rims off of an escalade in 28 seconds if you work as a team with a few other hoodlums. LOL I wish I would have gotten addicted to Crack Cocaine. It would have been cheaper. hahaha just paid for a recert class and my 1st 7 jumps. May have to knock off a liqueur store or get a night job delivering pizza to get the rest of my A though. That set me back a pretty penny! LOL If only there was a female DZ owner in search of a world renowned lover, then I could just have a sugar mama.. Oh well...
slappy1 0 #9 December 26, 2010 update: 3 years later I am now a licensed skydiver :D I am super lazy (and haaaaaate packing), so I only have ~120 jumps, but I just found this thread again and thought it was funny/right on. they had me at "door!" ;) so, hi2u, again.
