Kimbs 0 #1 September 24, 2007 Hello! I'm completly new to skydiving. I did a tandem jump for charity a few weeks ago and loved it, i was buzzing for days after. I really wanting to get into the sport now. i'm signing up for another tandem before I go solo. Purely because I was so disorientated during the first jump I had no idea what was going on around me! I am curious as to what advice you guys can give me, on where to get started. I would like some advice on what way to learn to skydive, not sure if I want to do AFF though! Thanks
skymama 37 #2 September 24, 2007 Welcome to the forums! This link will give you some good starting-out info. Ask your dz if they do the IAF program, which is where you start out with 3 tandems. You might be more comfortable with that. That is the way I started, if I had to do AFF right from the get-go, I'm not sure I would have had the nerve! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
Peej 0 #3 September 26, 2007 Welcome to the forums and to the sky! Hmmmm, i would always advise someone wanting to get into the sport to do AFF rather than static line (provided you can afford it of course) as the number of static line students that we see do a few jumps and then fall out of the sport is huge. In AFF you are learning that much quicker and able to get your A License that much quicker. Be safe out there Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky
Carpe_Diem 0 #4 September 27, 2007 Hi! I started out with two tandems as well. But I had never been in a plane before I am taking the IAD classes rather than the AFF due to costs. I am paying for my husband and I to jump twice a month. I am enjoying myself in the IAD classes because I am working on a slower progression. Do what you feel is right and good luck to you! Kimbs 0 #5 September 27, 2007 Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'm going to go for a static line jump after my next tandem. I can't seem to find any tandem progression courses in my area (Scotland) and AFF is a little too expensive for me right now, but maybe next year. Can't wait to get started!
