A license

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I graduated my AFF course this weekend at Skydive Atlanta and did my first solo. What an incredible jump! I never really paused to look around during AFF - the view was friggin incredible from 14000 feet! Definitely my two favorite jumps so far, and I hear it gets better :)
While that jump was fun, I'm anxious to start checking off things for my A license. I think being able to work my way up to jumping at night is one of my biggest goals right now.

Anyway, my main question is: what's the best way to get a coach through the A license, and how does it usually work? Do I just pay their lift ticket and pack job, or do I have to pony over more cash? Also, I was thinking it would be a good idea to stay with the same coach through out so I would always have someone that felt kind of like a mentor. Woody was a badass instructor but probably waaaaay too busy to coach on the side. I'm just not sure how all this stuff works.

I'm pumped about entering this new sport and the people so far have been awesome. Best $1300 bucks I ever spent ;)

Thank God it gets cheaper!

Welcome to the forums! :)
Oh, and make sure you go to the boogie this weekend at SDA, it should be fun!

Thanks for the help! I wasn't planning on going to the boogie but the guy I called at SDA just convinced me :P I figured it would only be a bunch of experienced people there but he said there would be a "kiddie" landing area so I don't get bulldozed by one of the high performance guys. Now if I can just get a few good jumps in this weekend, maybe I'll be able to squeeze onto a Heli jump. Who knows?

Thanks again for the help!

That's a good point. I did notice some subtle differences in the instructors during training. I'll make it a point to mix it up a little bit.
