Flying a mile high

Greetings everyone! just wanted to introduce myself. Just got into the habit again I should say. Was a Five jump chump in the army and decided to try it again after twenty years out. Got my first self pull this sunday after doing my first five I.A.D.s Its going to be a new experiance without the static line. Incidentally I'm Jumping in Boulder Colo. Here the ground Starts at a mile high. and we go up from there.

So true Kelly.

Roger, those five jumps earned you the silver wings you "wear". I, too, earned my wings, but did a few more than the initial five. 48 to be exact and I miss it. Its been seven years from my last jump and I can not wait. Itll be weird not waiting for the green light and the boot on your rear end which would follow.

Whooo just finished me first self pull...What a rush!!!
Yes I am jumping a randys DZ. And yes its from a cessna. They are hoping to get a new student plane in the next week or so no more waiting for Tandem jumps.

As for the silver wings, hoopt, well I havn't worn those in a looong time.. But thanks. And thank you for your service as well!!!!!

They only go to 10000ft in boulder (colorado skysports) but in longmont (mile hi skydiving) they go to 12500ft. Almost the same elevation, I think a couple hundred feet difference.

We don't fall out of the sky any faster or slower (or at least its negligible) than at sea level.

The real difference however is under canopy. If you are jumping at sea level and come jump here its pretty much like downsizing. You come in a lot faster. IMO flare is not as great either.... I was out jumping in San Diego after a bunch of jumps in longmont and my canopy felt super slow. It seriously felt like it wouldn't turn fast at all.
