Lawrence 0 #1 October 16, 2008 Hi Guys - I've got caught up in the forum thing again and wanted to share my decision with the good folk here; guess what after a few years absence from the sport I'm getting back into it. Got a good deal on a Rigg, booked some tunnel time in and planning on getting a shadow dive next week. Packing very rusty, jump suit dusty, bit older few more aches and pains, few more kids than when I last posted here but I'm feeling in a better head space than before and hopefully will be able to maintain currency better. Last jumped in 2004 with only 60 jumps and B license to my name but I guess we all gotta start somewhere. I banking on a little bit of muscle memory and hopefully won't freak out
skymama 37 #2 October 16, 2008 Welcome back! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
Lawrence 0 #3 October 16, 2008 Hey Skymamma, good to hear from you again. Lucky enough to have two boys (1.5 and 3.5 yrs) and my wife newly pregnant now (though early days still). After I put skydiving on hold I convinced her that paragliding was safer so been flying those since roughly 300hrs now; no major incidents but few very scary moments. She's now come round to letting me lose on those DZs again. Happy days and just bought myself a rigg.
mr_music11 0 #4 October 17, 2008 Wooo hoooo welcome back! Am sure that you will be fine. You've obviously spent some time at altitude since your last jump, so the brain doesnt have to be reminded of what that looks like huh? Paragliding, safer than skydiving?!?... umm ok.. guess that would be a topic for another thread! Congrats.. good luck on knockin' the dust off.. blue skiesIf flying is piloting a plane.. then swimming is driving a boat. I know why birds sing.. I skydive. mhcook 0 #6 October 20, 2008 Pardon my newbie ignorance, but what's a Shadow Dive? I'm thinking some sort or recurrency jump with an instructor. Thanks.
Lawrence 0 #7 October 20, 2008 That's exactly right, not sure what they'll want to see but heading, turns, stability etc ; weather not looking too good for rest of week here but as usual weekend better but have to work. Least gives me time to practise packing again.
