jumpkin84 0 #1 October 27, 2008 Hi! My name is Amanda and I am an AFF student! I've only completed seven jumps so far. Three tandem and four with instructors. I'm stuck at Cat-C because I can't get my legs out!!! I crack up every time my instructor tells me to relax. I'm like...dude...i'm jumping out of a plane. Skydiving is the best decision I have ever made! Nothing can compare and my life will never be the same! Any advice on legs, relaxing...or anything, pass it along! ~Amanda
jclalor 12 #2 October 27, 2008 Welcome to skydiving, Just listen to your instructors and it will all come together. The main thing is to relax and have fun. If you can spend 5 or 10 minutes in a tunnel that will help alot. Blues
mrbiceps 0 #3 October 27, 2008 Hi Amanda, welcome to skydiving. AFF was the best fun of my life and it sounds like you are having a ball to. Dont worry to much about having a problem or 2 during AFF, im sure we all had a thing or 2 we had to sort out during our training. If you are having problems getting your legs out maybe try pointing your toes, that worked for me. Good luck.
skymama 37 #4 October 27, 2008 Welcome to the forums! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
jumpkin84 0 #5 October 28, 2008 Hey! Thanks for the advice! I went to the wind tunnel two separate times and had two completely different experiences. My AFF instructor told me I picked up bad habits and told me to hold off on going back for a while. That bummed me out. I think I'm going to just kick my legs out as far as I can and then work back in, ya know what I mean? I never get them out far enough so I'll go to the extreme! Ha ha! jumpkin84 0 #6 October 28, 2008 Thanks! I have heard of pointing my toes before but I always forget. Too much going on in my head! LOL!
jumpkin84 0 #7 October 28, 2008 Hey! Thanks! My last jump I tried taking deep breaths right as the door opened and people were jumping out. I think it really did help! I've got to remember to do that every time...and to smile!
mrbiceps 0 #8 October 28, 2008 Hey Amanda dont say you've only done 7 jumps as a negative. Be proud of those 7 jumps u have done. Its not easy getting out that door during AFF and you have done great so far. Thats 6 more jumps than 99.9 % of the population have done.
