neoocm 0 #1 November 11, 2008 Hello, my name is Guillermo, I'm from Uruguay and new to skydiving. Recently, I have been reading a lot on the subject but haven't jumped yet but willing to once I learned A LOT. This sport punishes mistakes too hard so I want to make sure I have the best information available, and muscular memory trained. Most of what I learned came from this site, Dan Poynter's Skydiver's handbook and Brian Germain's Transcending fear. Great books In my country there are 2 or 3 popular dropzones which can be seen at: http://www.paracaidismo.us/english/zonas.php

You might think you are practicing things the right way but without an instructor there watching to correct your mistakes you may be building bad habits without even knowing it. Quit reading and go jump. You'll learn everything you need to know to do your first jump safely in the ground school.

neoocm 0 #4 November 12, 2008 Now that I read what I wrote, I understand why the advice came. What I wanted to say was that once I get registered at my local dropzone and taken the lessons under supervision of my instructor I would do it. Thank you very much for the "unsolicited advice". Now I have more evidence of the excellent camaraderie of this sport!
